Marcy Home Gym
Purchased from [...]. I am a 40+ amateur female bodybuilder. I put this together with my 12 y.o. son in about 2 1/2 hours. I have been training at home for 2 years with free weights and needed a lat pull machine along with leg machine. The pec/fly & chest press feature does not offer full range of motion, but I use dumbbells anyway. The vinyl weights do not slide incredibly smoothly...hope this improves with use. Lat pull is adequate although I needed to shorten it up for full range of motion and remove the arm curl pad. I will be replacing the C chain clips with carbineer clips for quick release on chains. Leg extension and leg curl are mediocre...not 100% ergonomically correct...too high for me and I am 5'6". I will be tweaking this with a board under my thigh to give some extra lift. Looks are nice and it is compact. [...]. This machine will not improve on the work accomplished with dumbbells for flys/presses. Low pulley is good for curls and seated rows, upright rows....full range of motion. Seems to be constructed solidly. [...]!
Just what i needed
We purchased this at a fitness/ sports store near our home during the holiday discounts- got a very good deal.
We set it up in our basement in just about 2 hours. Not complicated at all. The instructions weren't perfect, but we managed! We also had to move it later to add foam mats underneath, and it wasn't too much of a bear.
After a couple of weeks of use, there were only a few minor complaints. Like the previous reviewer, i had to make adjustments to the accessory chains etc to fit my ideal range of motion. I'm only 5'1", so some of the motions are a little long/high for me. It is unfortunate that none of the seat parts are adjustable. If we were looking to spend more, this would have been a great feature, given our range in height (he's 6'1"!). Given that, the leg extensions are still proper for me. The biggest drag is that the slider bars (where the weights slide up and down) are not thoroughly lubricated. So when i'm being a light weight (< 20 lbs), the resistance is gone on retraction. We are going to try lubing the bars with some silicone to help this. We might need to add some to the pulley wires to slip it all up a bit.
The set came with locking C- shaped "carabiners", which are a pain for switching accessories. We picked up a couple of regular ones to replace them. We also purchased adapter plates for our weight stack (2.5 and 5 lbs plates) in order to extend the flexibility.
It was a great addition to our home gym. We had to purchase a couple extras to make it the most convenient and maximize its use. However, for what we paid for it, we are totally fine with that!
