Get this ball
I was initially concerned about buying this ball. I had read good things, but was unsure if I could like this ball as much as the Molten Pro Touch. I played with it the other day for the first time and immediately noticed how easy it was to pass, set, and hit. This is a hitters ball! The other thing you immediately notice is how easy this ball is to see and how well this ball floats and sets - no more bad sets! This ball is softer than the Pro Touch/Super Touch yet it plays just as hard. It feels like genuine leather not "plasticky" like I've read in some reviews. The group I generally play with is a diverse group of players and not a single person (from AA to near terrible) complained about this ball. If you are on the fence about this ball, take the plunge...you won't regret it.
Great vball - Nice feel to it
I just got this ball last night and pumped it up right away since it wasn't frozen. Once I got the right pressure the ball to me feels great. I don't feel the slickness to it that may have to do with to much air or the fact there are no groves on it like normal vballs have. So far to me it has a nice padding to it - it does feel a little heavy so not sure what thats about. I will not be able to use it for another week so we will see if it loses air sitting. Overall a great purchase....
Well worth getting used to
We've been playing with this ball for a couple months now. It takes some getting used to. The surface feels plastic and slick, but setting is no more difficult than a conventional surface Mikasa or other ball. It also feels firmer; some people feel it is too firm even when inflated correctly.
What makes this ball worth adjusting to is the aerodynamics - it is just fun to serve because the dimples really grip the air. A float serve or a side spin serve will curve more than a conventional ball, and as others have noted, it can really die and drop much quicker - all told, it makes the game a bit more fun once you are used to it. The colors make it visible and the pattern does help you see the spin of the ball, so you can adjust when you are receiving one of those "wicked hahd" serves.
The only reason I give it a 4 instead of a 5 is because it is so different; if you play with it exclusively it would be a 5, but if you mix and play with other balls, the switching can be a downside. But I really like this ball.
