Customer Reviews
Interlink Bluetooth Mouse is EXCELLENT
Ignore the idiot who wrote the first review. While this mouse IS normal sized, its functionality is absolutely top-rate. Much better than any of the logitechs I've used in the past--and I've used almost all of them. The recharging is pretty quick, and it works via any miniusb; as a blackberry user even my phone charger will work to charge it if I forget the cord this mouse comes with. GOTTA LOVE IT!
Nice Looking Mouse but Power Hungry
If possible, I would RATE THIS ITEM 3.5 STARS
The SMK-Link VP6150 is an attractive mouse and works fairly well. The mouse installed with no problems as the Lenovo X301 with Vista Business 64, 4GB PC3 RAM and SSD detected the mouse and quickly got things initiated and drives installed. This is my first Bluetooth mouse and compared to any USB mouse I have had in the past, this mouse is very power hungry. I was only able to get about 3.5 very long works days from the first charge of the new batteries. I left the mouse on over night to make the situation real. After all, how many of us are in the habit of turning off their mouse each night? As stated in the guide, I let the mouse charge till the red LED turned off and then began to use the device.
As for it's design as a travel mouse, I wish the device was about 20% smaller in overall size. Maintain the exact same form, function and style, just shrink it some more. Perhaps to the scale of the old Creative USB Travel Mouse from 3 years back. For me, as I have somewhat smaller hands, I find this computer mouse to be as large a mouse as I would ever want, regardless of it's intended purpose, traveling or not.
I've noticed that the mouse is a little slow at times to reinitiate from sleep mode during normal use, but to some degree may be related to how Bluetooth devices use system resources in the laptop. I also agree with other comments in that the mouse is very slow to respond when in charging mode. After the first battery cycle, I recharged the mouse using the USB cable, but this time in conjunction with trying to operate the laptop with the device at the same time.
Yes, the response time during charging mode can be annoying, and I found the mouse to be not very effective while in the charging mode given the type of computer work I do and associated frequent mouse stops. Stops that are long enough in duration as to let the mouse switch over to sleep mode. Hence, I resorted to pulling out my old USB Logitech as a second to let the Interlink rest while charging.
The soft cloth pouch that is supplied with the Interlink mouse is made of fairly nice material but too large in size for the job of packing the mouse and USB cable. This makes for more unnecessary material that has to be tucked away in a carrying case and unwanted by most road warriors.
The insulation on the USB cord that is supplied is a tad on the thick side. Hence a little less flexible and requiring more frequent nudging to keep the USB cable out of the mouse work space. If you use a second mouse to back up the Interlink mouse while charging, then I guess the USB cable is not much of an issue. A nice thin USB cable like that supplied with a Canon Elf 500 would be a nice and effective solution.
If I were to add a feature to the mouse it would be for it to auto power down after Bluetooth connection is terminated. I left the mouse on overnight and may have gotten an extra day of battery life had the mouse shut down on its own.
Minus half point for battery life
Minus half point for mouse charging characteristics.
Minus quarter point for overall mouse responsiveness.
Minus quarter point for mouse size, too large carrying sack, and stiff USB cable.
Short Lived
I was wanting to get a bluetooth mouse so I went with this one because it was cheap. It worked alright for a few months, but now it has major issues. The scroll wheel only half works, and sometimes scrolls up when trying to scroll down. It randomly looses signal and takes 3-5 seconds to pair back up. This is probably the worst wireless device I've ever purchased. I've used this in Windows XP and in Mac OSX Leopard, and it's the same in both with the random drop off.
