Sensors on the mirror indicate when bright lights are used and dim the mirror glass for comfort and safety. Additional features include a compass and temperature readout. Temperature can be programmed to display in Fahrenheit or Celsius. Installation requires running a power wire and temperature sensor wire. This kit includes: Mirror Assembly(Includes Compass Pod), Power Wire Harness, Wire Tap, Temperature Sensor, Temperature Sensor Wire Harness, 9 Wire Ties, Operation Card and a Replacement Wedge Button for the Windshield.

Good replacement mirror
I have had the CIPA 36400 auto dimming mirror installed in my car for over a month and have had no problems. The installation was as described in the manual and took about 1 1/2hrs. The dimming feature works great. The temperature and compass is easy to read in the daytime, and dims nicely at night. I would recommend this mirror.

Nice.
Installed on 2010 Mustang GT. The car I got did not have a compass in it and I really wanted to have one. Install went fairly smoothly (about an hour and a half). The hardest part was getting the old mirror off and finding an appropriate wire to tap into.

Overall it works very well. Since I already have an exterior temperature display, I mounted the temp sensor under the dash so I get the interior temperature instead.

Great product!
I have missed having an Auto Dimming mirror on my MX-5.
After doing research, I found this product. Not only is it auto dimming, but it has the built in compass (nice to have but not necessary) and the temperature readout. (Something I also missed from my RX-8)
I didn't install it myself, as I was unsure of running the wires to the front of my car. I'm really happy with how it works, and how it looks.
If you are thinking of getting one, it's great! I have map lights in my car already, so save some money on the 36500 or the 36501. It works like a charm as far as the auto dim goes.
You won't be disappointed. (Well, i hope you won't!)
