Great Phone !!
This phone is the best phone I have ever owned.
It has all the features you will ever need.
Including bluetooth,a music player, games, and a lot of other features.
Also the phone has a great feel to it.
I for one am very glad I bought the L71. I've had it for over 5 months and couldn't be happier.
Great phone, but broke...
I bought the L71 last summer to replace the RAZR that I washed.. yeah, I know, dumb move.
For the first 90 days that I owned this phone, it was the best that I had ever had. Great quality camera, slim design, fit great into my pocket. I've also been a big fan of the candybar design as opposed to the flip phone. I never used the bluetooth, but simply having it made me want to get a headset for driving.
Unfortunately, for practically no reason, I took my phone out of my pocket at work and the screen was completely white. I could still make and recieve calls, but I couldn't see what I was doing. I tried removing & replacing the battery, doing a restore on the phone... nothing worked. After a few months I tried the phone again, and it worked well for about a week, before giving this white screen again. It hasn't worked since.
I should say for the sake of posterity that I didn't abuse this phone. It sat in my pocket all day, and I never really did any kind of lifting or anything that could damage the phone. It is scratch-free.
Hope yours works better than mine.
Good phone. Wonky interface
I bought this phone for my wife as a Christmas present, and chose the unlocked version because we're already on a contract and I didn't want the hassle of locking into another 2 years. Overall, it's a decent phone but here are a few more details for ya:
The Good:
- The fit and finish of the phone are excellent. It's all aluminum, so it feels good and solid in your hand, unlike plastic models. And it's really thin, so it'll slide into any pocket you need it to.
- It actually seems like a pretty good phone even beyond that. It's got good features such as bluetooth, a decent camera, and video capability.
The Bad:
- The interface is pretty poorly designed, by my opinion. Not very intuitive. Lots of buttons to push to get to something simple, for example. It's designed to take you directly to their web access feature (the money-maker) if all you do is press the same button repeatedly, when it should take you to more commonly used features like voicemail or settings.
- It seems like they tried to pull some fancy moves with the text messaging feature, but those moves just end up kicking you in the groin on the dance floor. For instance, rather than let you lead the way when typing a message, it tries to anticipate what you're going to type. Like, if you hit the 2 key, you expect to be able to select A, B, or C. Not with SLVR. It tries to anticipate what you're going to type by suggesting what it thinks are the most commonly typed words instead. So if you try to type "btw," you'll hit the number 2 and the word "angioplasty" may appear. (not really, but it's something equally as useless.) My wife said she was amazed at how often the term "8-ball" is suggested when she's typing a text message to the PTA. Something you expect from a prepaid phone, but not this.
In conclusion, it's a good physical phone. They just need to put the same amount of effort into designing how you use it.
