Customer Reviews

Fantastic card with very good heatsink.5
If you're reading this, I'll assume you already know about the 4850 and that it effortlessly dominates almost any game or application you throw at it. What you may not know is that this particular model has a very obviously different fan and heatsink. The bad news? It is MASSIVE. It effectively makes the 4850 a 2-slot card, so if you don't have the room, stick with another model. The good news? The 4850 and 4870s are notorious for having heat "issues" (not real problems, but somewhat worrisome) with the stock fan/heatsink. This monster completely eliminates the problem without having to use the "fan-fix" or use an application like RivaTuner to control the fan yourself. It idles at 56 degrees and at full load the highest I've seen it get to is 74. These are very acceptable numbers, especially when you consider the stock model's temps of roughly 80 degrees idle and over 90 at full load.

Due in part to the fan/heatsink, this card seems to overclock with little complaint. I run mine at 710mhz no problem.

Great card, great price. I highly recommend the 4850, and more specifically, this Sapphire model.

Read the fine print.4
This card delivers on its promises.
--However: Read the fine print.
I did not know it recommended a 450 watt power supply. Not until I read the fine print of the side of the box. I read the reviews carefully and did not note that specification anywhere. I should have researched it a little more.
The card was a little difficult to get working: I had to make several attempts with the installation discs and then use more recent downloaded drivers before everything installed and functioned after several more attempts. This part was frustrating.

I have had no problems with the card ever since and it's not noisy.

I would buy this again, however the installation process would be pretty frustating for an amateur.

Good Luck

Great Card5
I have had this card for about 2 months, runs great at stock settings, most every game I throw at it runs beautifully. The H/S is excellent and keeps it around 42c idle and 56 load. I have decent case cooling so your temps may vary. I have it crossfired with a gigabyte hd4850 and the two really scream. The biggest selling point of the Sapphire card was the size, this is not a reference design so it is smaller than your average 4850 which is good if you don't have allot of space in your case.
