Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review
For the book lover who thought they had everything, this may be the perfect gift: a dictionary that draws its 130,000 definitions from the American Heritage Dictionary (4th edition) and is small enough to serve as a bookmark. The Zelco Bookmark Dictionary II’s ultra-thin, flexible keyboard pad clips onto the page of a book for easy reference. Other functions include a measurement converter and a calculator. Date and time are kept with an internal clock.

The keyboard features slightly raised touch buttons, with additional, alternate key functions that operate during calculator mode. The LED screen features relatively lar.ge 1/2-inch-tall figures for easy reading. When the dictionary is clipped to a page as a bookmark, the screen sits above the book.

Use a small Phillips-head screwdriver to change the CR2032 3-volt lithium battery. The Zelco Bookmark Dictionary II measures 3-3/4 by 5-3/4 inches, while the display screen at the top is 3-3/4 by 1-1/2 by 1/2 inches. Zelco offers a one-year limited warranty covering defects in materials and labor that occur during normal use. --Garland Withers

Customer Reviews

Still going to look2
I received this as a gift for Christmas and I have two main complaints. First, and more important, I would say 1/3 of the words I look up are not in this product. I have a decent vocabulary, but I'm no lexicographer, and it's frustrating not to find so many words. The second complaint is that the buttons are difficult to push and I wish the product would default to "dictionary mode" when I turn it on, rather than always have to push an extra button to get there. It is a dictionary after all--why would I buy this if I really wanted a calculator? It's a nice feature, but bury that somewhere else and make it easy for me to look up my word without having to push extra buttons (which are hard to push!) I'm sure there's something better out there...now I'm off to find it.

Looks too much like version 11
Version One's story:

I thought this bookmark would be a great idea. Having a dictionary at the palm of my reading material was a great idea, so I made an impulse buy with this product. Here are the problems and annoyances I have with this product:

* Not enough obscure words in its dictionary
* It's a pain to type these words on the small keypad
* Bookmark is top heavy and which makes it awkward. It would be much better if the whole bookmark was close to paper thin.

So, sadly, the product is pointless. I wouldn't waste your time with version II either, I am sure the same complaints apply.

Not recommended!1
I received this bookmark dictionary 2 weeks ago, and it's already broken! The upper left portion of the key pad has stopped working, and the buttons that actually do work need to be pressed hard in order for the letter to register! I definitely DO NOT recommend this item.
