Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review
The Black & Decker PivotDriver two-position screwdriver is great either in the workshop or to have around home for projects that require quite a bit of screwdriving. This tool is super easy to use and locks in two positions--in-line or pistol-grip--for installing cabinet hardware or tightening screws, say, under a counter or in any other hard-to-reach place where you'd bang your knuckles with an ordinary screwdriver. Toggling between forward and reverse is easy with the rocker switch, while the automatic spindle lock allows you to manually start screws or finish them without stripping or overtightening. The narrow nosepiece also gives you added reach when installing hardware in tight spots.

The PivotDriver runs off the VersaPak battery system, which is interchangeable with all Black & Decker VersaPak products. The battery is easy to remove--just press the button near the bottom of the screwdriver. The 1.2 amp, 3.6-volt battery produces enough torque and run time for any basic household project. --Dori Anvinson

From the Manufacturer
The PivotDriver two position cordless screwdriver has an innovative handle design that rotates and locks into two positions. This offers you all the advantages of an in-line screwdriver, plus the added flexibility of driving screws in the pistol-grip position for those tight and hard to reach spaces. The PivotDriver produces 180 rpm and 40-inch/lbs. of torque in forward and reverse, and has an automatic spindle lock for greater control when starting and finishing screws or for manual use if desired. This screwdriver is powered by the VersaPak interchangeable battery system for addded convenience and non-stop power. VersaPak is a totally interchangeable, fully rechargeable, completely portable battery system that powers a variety of products. Each product operates using one or two VersaPak batteries. Includes PivotDriver, one VersaPak battery, charger and double ended bit (case not included).

GREAT, VERSATILE, POWERFUL SCREWDRIVER5
Pivotdriver is light, has more than enough power and with its angle feature, you can use it just about anywhere. It is powered by the Versapak battery system- which is a must for do it yourselfers. One battery powers all types of products- screwdrivers, drills, saws, vacs, lights etc. Pivotdriver comes w/ battery and charger.

Apparent Design Defect Renders Tool Inoperative3
I am on my third screwdriver in one month's time. The same failure caused me to return the first two for replacement. It seems that the connecting pin for the battery in recessed handle area of the tool is prone to easy breakage. Once this pin is broken the battery can not make contact and the tool will not operate.

Beyond what appears to a design defect the tool is handy, easy to use and seems a good value.

Black and Deckers VERY poor designed battery CONTACT!1
Mr. Walker could not have stated it MORE clear on the POOR quality of this product ..here is his findings .. I had 2 of these units in less than 1 month as both failed. Although the overall design is good and there seems to be enough power for the average home job there is a design flaw. The internal battery clip that connects the battery to the drive motor is of very poor design. If you happen to rotate the battery while it is installed in the unit the internal connection clip will break causing the tool to fail. B&D told me they were aware of this flaw and are working on the problem. However, they continue to sell them in the market place. (I would like to add I had THREE that were bad ..DOA for the same reason ..this is MOST true with models made around X-Mas of 1999 when I got my first ...it took B&K (4) months to get me a working model! Buyer beware!!)
