Product Description

Maggie's Soap Nuts are the only laundry soap that grows on trees! Truly effective, 100% natural and safe for your most sensitive skin. Soap Nuts are the dried fruit of the Chinese Soapberry tree. They contain saponin, a natural cleaner used for thousands of years to clean clothes, just like the plants used by Native Americans for washing. Simply put a few Soap Nuts into the included cotton sack and drop it in your laundry. Your clothes come out clean, vibrant, and soft. Replace your laboratory detergents and softeners with the soap made from Nature by Nature. Your clothes, your skin, your family, and your planet will thank you. Ingredients: dried fruit of the Chinese Soapberry tree. Also contains: one cotton wash sack and Love. Package contains full instructions and everything you need to wash up to 5 full loads of laundry.

Customer Reviews

Research and read directions before you use. 5
For the review that complained that she did a load a few days later w/ the same nuts there is a reason they smelled. You are suppose to do the loads all in one day and then compost the soapnuts.

Here is the equation:
"For a cold water wash, use 3-5 shells and re-use up to four times in the same day. For a warm water wash, use 2-3 shells and re-use up to two times in the same day.

The shells are same-day reuseable -- once the shells have been moistened, they begin to naturally break down. If the moist shells are kept for use on a subsequent day, you may find that they have become moldy. Discard the shells in your garden mulch pile."

Wonderful! A 5+ Star rating would be more accurate.

Even with our rock-hard water this stuff cleans and softens.
I've been making the liquid version and using it for clothes, dishes (with the addition of a bit of degreaser) as well as general household cleaning.
It has suddenly become available nearby (for less than the online price) so I've been buying it locally.

A great product.

Not strong enough2
I ordered the product after a news special covering them that praised their cleaning ability and environmentally friendliness. However, my first load it didn't suds up very well as claimed by the news piece. The water turned more of just a gray tint. And then with the "smell" test, 3 pieces of laundry did not come out clean. And these weren't what I would consider "heavily soiled" - no stains or gym clothes, simply shirts that had been worn for the day in an office environment and had built up deoderant. Personally, I don't want to have to smell everything when I take it out of the laundry. I can't trust it, so I don't particularly care to purchase it again. So, perhaps this is good for the people that really have VERY slightly dirty clothes... or no sweat glands.
