these shorts are, as advertised, definitely coach shorts. they are comfortable and light, but if you plan on using them to be highly active they made ride up a little (not quite enough to show your jock strap, but it could be a little embarassing). If you are cool with showing a lot of leg, like a soccer player, they are great, but they aren't quite appropriate if you want to take them to the basketball court.
