Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
According to a recent article in Redbook, a study by the U.S. Small Business Administration found that home-based companies now comprise 52 percent of all U.S. businesses, and they're not always run by part-timers who are looking to make pocket change: The National Survey of Entrepreneurial Parents revealed that 22 percent of women who run a full-time business from home pull in $50,000 or more a year, and 39 percent earn $30,000 or more.

How To Start A Home-Based Collection Agency is a critical guide for entrepreneurs seeking a life working at home and a career in the collection business.

From the Author
I wrote " How To Start A Home-Based Collection Agency to help those individuals evaluating the possibility of starting their own home-based collection business.

When I started my home-based collection agency, I could not find any "easy-read" guides for starting this kind of business at my local library or bookstore. This book hopefully will allow others to draw from the experience of someone who has "been there, done that," allowing them to possibly become the next home business success story.

Customer Reviews

Some good information, but not nearly enough3
While this book does cover a lot of topics related to the debt collection industry, it does not cover a single one of them in any detail. It is a very thin book that has large print.

I was hoping for some hard numbers on what kind of rates are normal for buying and selling debt different types of debt, but all I could find was that the author usually charges a 25% commission.

At $16.95 I suppose it's wasn't too much pay for a few pieces of good advice.

Fails to give enough information2
This book only provides a VERY little more than can be found in 3 minutes of searching the internet.

I was highly dissapointed by the lack of significant content. It was short, generic, and I believe did not provide answers to any of the really tough questions about starting a home based collections business.

I would NOT buy it again or recommend it to a friend.

Disappointed with content1
I found the book disappointing with very little information specific to debt collection. I was hoping for insights into the collection industry, however, the first 25 pages were devoted to a very general business plan. The Fair Information Act infomation is available online for free and the final chapter consisted of self-congratulations by the author. I wish Mr. Bills had shared his considerable knowledge of the industry in much more depth.
