Customer Reviews

disappointed1
I purchased these shoes with high hopes...I have been wearing various birkenstock products over the years with great satisfaction. I was prompted to a size and width, and ordered 39 regular, NOT NARROW as I always order (I have wide feet). When I received the shoes, they were quite narrow and wouldn't fit. I phoned Midwest Sports and the young lady informed me that they had many problems with these shoes and the fact that they are narrow. So, why not list that on the website so that it doesn't cost nearly $30 to find out the shoes you ordered won't fit??? I would gladly have exchanged the shoes, but they only carry clogs and thongs beside this style. I am disappointed because I hoped to have the shoes for Xmas. Oh well. Thank you for your time and hope this helps!!

Comfortable but sub-standard materials for the sole1
A comfortable sandal no doubt - but don't wear it outdoors! The sole is thinnest at the heel so of course wears out well before the rest of the sole. Well saying it is a sole would be generous. If all you do is wear it on marble floors then you'll be fine. But if you wear it outdoors plan on spending $40-$50 to get the sole replaced often (4 months). The whole bottom of course! It should really be advertised as an indoor sandal. A shame because it is comfortable - and don't bother calling/writing customer service ....

Saving My Feet5
I broke both ankles & feet June 2008. I was tired of wearing shoes & wanted sandals. Something I thought I'd never be able to do again. I hate shoes & worse hate spending money on them. Rather go barefoot. When I bought 2 pr. of "earth" shoes of different, cheap brands, I got what I paid for. What I needed was a very firm bottomed sandal with straps to hold my feet firmly inside them and also let my toes out to play!!! That is exactly what these Betula's have done for me!!! My stride has improved. The pain from moving around inside the shoe has subsided after walking a bit. I just strap the feet down, but not too firmly with the straps!!! (Only thing..where's the half sizes? Just asking?) I was expecting to pay more than I've ever paid for shoes when I started looking at Birkenstocks, then I saw the sale price. BINGO! I'm thinking of buying another pair for waaaay in the future. You must know that breaking these shoes in takes a few days. Your feet have to get use to the arch support, etc. But they are WELL WORTH IT. I can walk like a person instead of the Hunch Back again. Now what am I gonna do when the snow flies? I LOVE THEM!!!
