Baby's crib may look little and adorable to an adult, but to a tiny newborn, it can seem vast and frightening. Plus, the crib offers none of the motion that baby is used to from his previous post in mom's belly. The Soothing Motions glider mimics baby's former environment a little more closely than the cold, empty crib. Shaped more like a cradle than many of the competing infant seats with motion, this glider nestles baby deeply into the plush seat. Extra padding around the head, back, and sides provides additional support and a detachable infant insert gives baby's head even more firm cushioning.
To meet the needs of even the fussiest baby, this glider offers gentle rocking in two directionsfrom front to back and from side to side. |

However, it is the rocking feature that is certain to give mom's tired arms a break and to help soothe baby into a quiet state so he can drift off into slumber. To meet the needs of even the fussiest baby, this glider offers gentle rocking in two directionsfrom front to back and from side to sideand at speeds ranging from gentle to energetic. The two-position seat reclines to an almost-flat position for newborns or preemies lacking head support and for older babies who are ready to sleep. The seat adjusts to a more upright position for babies who are alert and enjoying the gliding motion. For safety, baby is strapped in with a three-point harness that is wide and soft so it gently contains baby without binding.
Parents can choose to turn on accompanying music while baby rocks to either promote sleep or enhance baby's auditory senses. The glider plays eight soothing lullabies for babies preparing to snooze or eight more upbeat tunes for those who are wide awake. For gross motor skill development, a padded toy bar dangles a little plush bunny and bear for older babies to bat around. Parents can remove the toy bar in a jiffy to lift baby from the seat.
The Soothing Motions glider has a 360-degree rotating seat so parents can turn baby to face them as they move about a room. For babies experiencing separation anxiety, this feature reduces a great deal of fussing that can be so stressful for parents. And, suppose baby does fall asleep in the glider and needs to be moved out of a high-traffic area to continue his nap. Comfortable handles at the head and foot of the glider, hidden beneath the built-in dust ruffle, make it easy for mom or dad to safely lift baby and glider and carry them to another room.
The glider's seat pad is machine-washable so the expected baby messesspit-up milk and diaper leaks--are easily cleaned up. This glider requires four "D" batteries for operation and, sadly, does not come with a plug. Parents will need to have plenty of extra batteries stashed away so as not to be left high and dry with a fussy baby and a motionless glider. The Soothing Motions seat holds babies from newborn size up to 25 pounds. --Cristina Vaamonde
From the Manufacturer
Babies love being soothed while being held in a glider rocking chair. Now they can enjoy that same soothing motion in a glider just for them! The Soothing Motions Glider provides a similar gliding motion in two ways, side-to-side or front-to-back.
Customer Reviews
waste of money
I purchased this for my seventh child and she absolutely hated it. I read the other reviews that's why I purchased it. It did not soothe her to sleep, like most babies she liked to be rocked not moved side to side. It was very loud and annoying, very heavy and hard to move from room to room. A Complete wast of money, not recommended. You are better off with a papasan swing.
Very - very good product. Buy it!
We got this product for our baby shower and used it from our baby's birth till he was 5 months old and started trying to get out of it.
I was at first concerned that it is so primitive, just gliding back and forth and it does not have vibration, but our baby never liked vibration and he would fall asleep in the glider and stay there for long-long time.
We absolutely love it! The batteries it came with lasted all 5 months and sometimes our baby was in the glider for several hours a day. It is a great advantage that it does not need to be plugged in the wall so you can move it to whatever room you want.
I only give it 4 stars because the safety belt got small for our son very soon and we stopped using it. Not a problem for us, but some people may want to know about it.
BEST BABY GEAR EVER BOUGHT!!
It is more pricier than other bouncers, but it was the best investment we ever made!! Our son used this glider practically from the moment he was born until 6mths 3weeks old! I bought it because it was like a cradle and looked more secure and soothing for a newborn. The other bouncers didn't seem to have the support I thought a newborn needed and the vibrating/bouncing feature seemed to be fit for more older infants. The gliding motion was another reason I bought it and since I never got a glider for myself to sit with him in, this was the next best thing. While the music and gliding motion are a plus, just being in the glider seemed to keep him satisfied. As he got older/longer, his feet would hit the bottom, but we just put a pillow under his feet and it was okay. He finally outgrew it because it is reclined too far back for a 6mth old who at that age wants to sit up and be independent. We dismantled it today and I plan to sell it. We are so sad!! It's easy to clean and the batteries lasted long for us. One negative thing is it is HEAVY and more bulkier than other bouncers, but it needs to be for what it does and we probably never moved it from our living room, so it was okay. There are handles to move it from room to room, but when you lift it up, the base swings around and it makes it a little annoying to walk with. That's nothing though compared to all the good stuff and I would definitely recommend this to any parent. Worth every penny!!
