great ride
I had been having issues with my current wheelset (Shimano WH-R500) flats, loose hubs, etc., and decided I was going to get a replacement for my wheels. I thought $350 would be enough to find a replacement for the Shimanos, but trust me if you find $350 rims you probably don't want them, so I increased my budget and finally decided on the Mavics after a visit to my local bike shop. I love these rims. They reduce flats and pinches because there are no spoke holes on the inside of the rim. I still used rim tape just from being paranoid of getting flats and being a heavier rider (200 lbs), but the rims hold up well with no slipping even in humid Texas. They seem responsive, even with my larger frame, and I can hammer them with confidence when speed is needed. They are easy to swap your gear cassette, and the quick release is sweet. No worries that you will bang your hand up or pinch your fingers when switching tires. The one thing that was a detractor was putting the magnet on the spoke. Since the spokes are flat my magnet was made for round spokes, but the cool thing is that mavic makes skewer that works well as a replacement for the cycle computer.
