Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
Expressing breast milk from work takes a lot of time and dedication, so anything that will make the process easier is appreciated by moms. Storing milk in bottles takes up valuable freezer space and means that you have to keep purchasing more and more bottles to build up your stash of food for baby. These plastic breast milk storage bags come pre-sterilized, and are easy to carry around--as they’re not much bigger than a travel pack of tissues. In fact, they come in a tissue-style dispenser, making them easy to access and store. Each bag stores up to 6 ounces, or 180 milliliters of milk, and seals tightly to preserve freshness. Bags lay flat in the freezer saving plenty of space for more milk or other foods. Milk transfers easily from bag to bottle with no spillage. A tab above the fill area lets you write the express date, volume of milk, and the name of your child (in case you are handing it off to a busy daycare provider for feedings) on the bag without worry that you may puncture and contaminate your milk with ink. For moms who have to temporarily store their milk in a busy office refrigerator, a tamper-evident safety seal on each bag informs you if someone has been in your supply. Each box includes 25 storage bags. --Cristina Vaamonde

BPA Free5
For those concerned about BPA: the Lansinoh and Medela breastmilk storage bags are both BPA free.

(BPA for those that missed the news reports is a chemical found in some plastics that a recent National Toxicology Program report indicated may be harmful, especially to infants.)

a must have for working lactating mommies5
I used hundreds of these bags when I went back to work and pumped almost exclusively for five months. Out of all those only one leaked on the seam. I froze almost all that I pumped and really liked how these were able to lay flat for storage. I also liked the double zip to ensure no leakage either. I did not measure according to the bag but instead used the ounce markings on the bottles I was pumping into and then wrote the amount and date on the label with a Sharpie. This was much more accurate and quicker to figure out than looking at the bag to determine how much was in it. Thawing was quick and easy. Much faster than thawing from a frozen bottle. I never used another brand so I cannot compare. Lansinoh bags worked so well I saw no need to try another brand. Price was great too! I had several left over after I finished pumping so I saved them and used them to freeze pureed carrots, peaches, pears, etc. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a reliable and cost effective storage bag.

Sturdy, spacious and well-designed5
I love these bags. I have tried the Medela bags too, but these are far better.

The double-ziploc closure makes me feel confident that there won't be any leaks.

The larger size bag leaves plenty of room for expansion when freezing, and allows me to lay the bags flat in the freezer, then store them sideways like index cards - that makes for a nice organized freezer, and saves space compared to the bulging rounded blobs that the medela bags become.

I am also impressed with the durability of the plastic, I once accidentally caught the edge of the bag in the zipper of my little transport cooler. The zip teeth chewed into the plastic a bit, but after I disengaged them, I was surprised to find that it hadn't made a hole. Obviously I moved the milk into another bag to be safe, but I was impressed at how well it held up.

Plenty of space to write name, date and volume on the the bag.

The only thing I don't like about these bags is the twee "My mommy's milk" crayon-style writing on them. The medela bags do allow you to pump directly into them, but I have never trusted the little plastic strap to hold the weight of milk, so losing this feature isn't a big deal to me.
