Don't Buy Other Manufacturers' Hex Shank Chucks
I have used the Makita and Stanley, and they are junk compared to the DeWalt. The BIG difference is that the collar on the DeWalt is spring-loaded so that you just push the bits in and they lock in. All the other brands that I have seen, you have to pull back the collar manually (a 2-handed operation) to insert the bit. The device is sturdy and a time-saver over other brands of similar function. DeWalt makes a few nice combo-sets as well.
This is REALLY nice
I have been doing a lot of work that requires me to drill holes and then use my drill as a screwdriver. This little gadget makes me tremendously efficient. I just pop the drill bit in and I'm ready to work. It cut my time by about 75%. Well worth the money.
A must have in any tool box
It has already been said in most of the reviews on this product, but it bears repeating. Just pop in a bit and the spring mechanism locks in. pull back on the collar and it ejects. So simple it is genius. There are many other rapid load chucks available by other makers but for some reason they have all chosen to use a mechanism that usually requires two hands to operate and is not only more complicated in design, but not as efficient. I have several of these made by just as many manufacturers, mostly because they are often packaged with a set of 1/4 inch shank bit sets, but the DeWALT is the only one I use everyday most of the others I own are still in the original case and mostly unused.
