A dull drill bit means jobs take longer, and it can result in lower-quality work, damaged work materials, and shortened drill life. But unlike the relatively straightforward task of sharpening flat blades, sharpening drill bits by hand is a difficult and cumbersome task. This is what makes the intuitive, easy-to-use Drill Doctor sharpener so useful.
Two Easy Steps Ensure Bits are Sharp and Effective
Just as easy to use as the heavy-duty Drill Doctor 500X and 750X models, the 350X offers on-chuck alignment. This eliminates the need for an alignment port and simplifies the sharpening process, making the 350X a perfect choice for home workshops.
You simply secure the bit and turn the chuck an even number of half turns to achieve a perfect 118-degree angle. As you sharpen, the tool's V-block jaws hold the bit precisely in place and ensure that you don't have to worry about jaw twisting, even when working with small bits. This secure alignment system ensures that you maintain accurate bit geometry and don't damage the integrity of your tools.
Engineered for Versatility in Handling Popular Bits
The same chuck can be used to sharpen popular bit sizes ranging from 3/32- to 1/2-inch. The Drill Doctor 350X works with a wide variety of bit types used in wood and light metal work, including high-speed steel, carbide, masonry, and TiN-coated bits.
And with a low, ergonomic profile design, the 350X is comfortable to work with. Its excellent stability means that it won't "walk" away from you, even when you're working with large, tough-to-sharpen bits.
Professional Design and Construction for Durability
The Drill Doctor uses an industrial-strength diamond sharpening wheel that won't change shape over time, and a cool design that means bits don't heat up and lose their tempering as you sharpen them. This wheel can be easily replaced, so you don't incur any maintenance fees. And with each wheel good for about 200 sharpenings, you'll appreciate how infrequently you'll need to replace it.
Behind the smooth operation of this wheel is a permanent magnet motor, which produces consistent power regardless of speed or load, and helps you achieve sharp bits that are easy to work with.
The Drill Doctor 350X is backed by a three-year manufacturerÆs warranty.

Customer Reviews
Great little tool. Does as advertised.
Just sharpened all of my drill bits in the shop. About 60 of them. Only a few needed more than once in the jig. This was about 90% of all my drill bits. The few brad points, Forrester, and spade bits I either do it with other tools, send out, or throw away and get new ones.
All in all, a great buy! Does the same job as the more expensive models if you only have regular drill bits to sharpen.
Takes about 10 minutes of reading and fiddling around, then I was doing great every time. Make sure to have a magnifying glass or a loupe. The only real way to mess up is to have the bit in the jig off centered (usually just the wee sized bits).
Even a couple of new bits benefited from the sharpening as they are polished to make them look better.
All of the bits drilled a lot smoother and faster after sharpening. Really does improve the bit to have is sharp!
What do I see under the magnifier? Dull bits have their cutting edge bent over, the corner edge is not sharp, and the peak is not well defined. Afterwards, a shiny new surface, crisp peak, a perfect edge and truly sharp corners.
The diamond wheel felt perfectly fine after all of my bits so should last for years. I cleaned it with an pencil eraser (like my sanding belts!) then cleaned the dust chamber. The wheel can also be flipped to expose the other end for double the life.
May no standard bit go unsharpened
Anyone that can read and has any common sense can make even new bit's a little better (the home depot ones ;) ). I know how to sharpen bits buy hand (somewhat), it's a pain in the butt, time consuming to do correctly and definitely a gift buy a higher power (if that makes since). This sharpener WILL AND CAN do what it says and do it well as long as you pay attention to the instructions. When I first started using the thing I didn't read the instructions (like most). Well I started in on a bit and found it to really mess the thing up so I kept fettling with it then finally broke down and read the instructions. Now it works vary well, as long as the bit is not totally destroyed when you start sharpening it, it literally only takes a minute or so to have a good as new bit. Now here's the kicker, it's precise. No joke I took my starrett dial caliper (that's right, not a cheap general tool brand one) and measured the point-to-edge on both sides. Give or take user error and about ".003, the bits where very evenly ground. If your not making helicopter parts for the military I'd say it will do just fine for you.
Notes:
When you first get it, I highly recommend getting a cheap high speed steel (HHS) ½ bit for practice. Also to "break in" the diamond wheel, anyone who has used a new diamond sharpening stone knows they are pretty rough to start off.
Read and listen to instructions, they can help... a lot.
Even rotations (literally and buy number), you have to turn the thing and even number of half turns and at the same speed to keep the point centered.
WILL NOT do split point bits OR keep non standard (other than 118 degree) bits. I have found it can sharpen some of the larger split point bits, but not over and over. 1/2 to 7/16 maybe 5 times 5/16 to 3/8 3 or so and anything under 7/32 is a who knows... If you do have split point or like split point I'd get the xp or 500x. The split point is vary difficult to replicate accurately and evenly so keep that in mind when buying this.
Requires getting used to (that bit I recommended you buy could be 1/8 gone before you get nice and consistent).
Expect metal debris, don't use it on fabric or you will get a nice gray line where the wheel throws the debris out the trash hole. Also when the debris build up they start to fall out the bottom (you will know when you get one).
Clean the chuck often, I`ve found removing and dismantling the chuck and spraying it off in the sink works well (don't let the springs rust!!!).
All and all, it's a heck of a lot cheaper and convenient over time than to drive to the store for a new bit, and it's almost fun to do!
Awesome tool.
For some reason, beyond me, I always saved my dull drill bits in a shoe box instead of throwing them away. Now I know why. Subconsciously, I must have been waiting for this sharpener to appear. This is truly an awesome tool. It is very easy to use and really sharpens old drill bits fast (both wood/steel and masonry).
I really didn't have to go through the learning curve. With the caveats posted, I took the time (10 minutes) to view the instructional DVD and was able to get excellent results right away. The only difficulty is with the small 3/32 bits. This will just take a little more practice.
With the 50 or so old drill bits in my shoe box now sharpened I've essentially paid for the tool already. I ordered the extra diamond wheel just to save me a trip to the store but it might be a while before I need it. After the first 50 the wheel is still in real good shape. I turned it around just for good measure (very easy to do, also) when I was doing the clean up after finishing.
Overall this is a great tool. Now I can't wait to dull up the bits so that I can sharpen them again. It's kind of fun. Especially if you ever tried to sharpen drill bits on a bench top grinder.
