Amazon.com Product Description
If you ever find the need to grind, cut, sharpen, polish, engrave, or to clean intricate parts, the Dremel Stylus Rotary Tool will get the job done. The Dremel 1100-01 is a unique handheld cordless rotary tool that utilizes the new lithium-ion battery technology. Once the 7.2-volt battery has been charged it can retain a charge for up to 18 months of non-use. But, I doubt this tool will be set aside for long. The variable speed tool, 5,000 - 25,000 RPM, can be used by homemakers, hobbyists and artists, to clean, sand, grind, cut, polish, drill and engrave. The soft pistol grip housing fits comfortably in the hand for outstanding balance and precision control. The docking station not only holds the Stylus when not in use but also recharges the battery to provide long-lasting performance. Some of the most commonly used quick change bits are included in a handy storage case. --C. Dwight Barnett

Good, but...4
I've had several Dremel tools, both corded and cordless. My principal use has been woodcarving and scale miniatures. I bought this one on the basis of reviews, and I'm pleased, but...
First of all, the packaging is worthy of one of those excessive packaging awards. It consists of a kind of cardboard and plastic chastity belt, and you almost need another Dremel tool to open it.
Second, and more important, the selection of accessories is pretty mingy. As it that weren't enough, they don't even include all the collets you need to use the accessories they do give you. They suggest you buy them separately. Not good.
Using the tool made me feel better. It's light, quiet, fast, and feels a lot better in my hand than my old ones did. I like the thing, but if they'd spent on accessories what they wasted on packaging, I'd like it better.

Great craft tool!5
The Stylus is an excellent tool for the craftperson. I am building a dollhouse, and wish I'd had it 2 years ago when I started, rather than now when I'm nearly done. I've found endless uses for it, from widening doorways in my (1:12 scale) house to buffing shingles to fit for the roof.

It's light weight, easy to maneuver into all sorts of tight places, and easy to grip. The grip is important to me as I have a disability and weak hands, but I've not ever experienced "grip fatigue" with this as I have with previous Dremels. And the fact that there is no cord means I don't have to worry about what the cord is dragging against as I get into tight places in my project.

It's a terrific tool and I highly recommend it for anyone doing small scale work.

Very handy!5
This is one neat "LITTLE" tool. My first pleasant surprise was how smoothly it runs at top speed. If you are into doing super-miniature work, you will love this tool. I have a TurboCarver that spins 1/16 inch shafts at 400,000 rpm that really isn't much smoother than this Dremel. The ultra high speed TurboCarver is necessary for the very small and delicate detail work (like etching glass), but this Dremel really does a fine and faster job in places where the soft touch is not quite so necessary. I expect it to save much wear and tear on the TurboCarver which costs over ten times as much.

Somebody commented on the use of collets by Dremel tools. I am in fundamental agreement with that person if your application requires quick change to tools with different shaft sizes, the 3-jaw chuck is the way to go. But, if you are using a variety of 1/16 inch tools at maximum speed the collet is a virtual necessity.
