Country? Alt? Heroin? Cute as fuck? Far too deep to be dismissed as "cute as fuck?"

Yes, all this and way more. The Watson Twins can actually drive me to tears.

Product Description

Identical twins Chandra and Leigh Watson, veterans of the contemporary folk rock scene in Los Angeles will release "Fire Songs", their label debut full length. The twins are akin to various scenes such as indie rock, new folk, alt-country/Americana and cannot be neatly categorized into one. The Kentucky-born duo count folk, gospel, blues and country as early influences. The album was produced by Russell Pollard and J. Soda (members from various incarnations of Sebadoh, Earlimart, Everest, and Folk Implosion) and is the follow up to the Watson Twins 2006 self-released and critically acclaimed "Southern Manners" EP.

Editorial Reviews

Review
"The Watson Twins are based around the harmonies and musical underpinnings of Chandra and Leigh Watson, who are indeed twins. For those who grew acquainted with the sounds of the twins when they helped turn Jenny Lewis' more-or-less first solo effort into an artistic coup de grace, you will rejoice with the mix of sunshine and crunch on Fire Songs. For the uninitiated, The Watson Twins live and breath ochre-tinged folk-rock, each track sinking into the twilight-most often drowsily but with a thunderous undercurrent that shows there's at least one copy of Neil Young's "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere", in the Watson Twins library. If that doesn't sell you, then proceed to their Mazzy Star-meets-Cowboy Junkies take on the Cure's "Just Like Heaven". It's got nothing on the Dinosaur JR version, but it'll still knock you sideways." --jon pruett/ Filter

another beautiful album!5
the energy of "fire songs" is a bit more vibrant than "southern manners", but the songs are just as gorgeous! the watson twins harmonize like no others and seem to bare their souls through lyrics & melodies.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Great harmonies, great music5
The album starts off great with How Am I To Be Now. The twins harmonies are great and the song is very upbeat.

The album shifts to more mellow, a great rainy day or driving album.

I've owned it a while now and it is always near the top my stack.

The overall mood of this CD makes it easy to imagine sitting at the end of your favorite bar, an out-of-the-way one few people know, and hearing these two ladies sing to roomful half-full of regulars. A bar where no one will tell anyone else about the great music and good liquor, because they want it all to themselves. That's how this CD makes me feel.

Excellent!4
If you are a fan of the Watson Twins or looking for good rock/folksy music, then this is a fantastic CD!
