![]() | Canon Digital Rebel XTi 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens (Black)
Buy new: $674.95 / Used from: $450.00 I love the black body ! The XTi has been criticized for being too small in size. OK enough size for general use. If it is too small for you I suggest adding a battery grip. The kit 18-55mm lens is adequate. I just use the kit lens for casual, indoor parties. The 18mm setting is a good wide angle for taking photos of large groups of people (minus 1.6 crop factor of course).

![]() | Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM Standard Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras
Buy new: $230.07 / Used from: $199.99 Great all purpose lens. My walk around lens with a medium zoom lens reach. This is the lens I use the most.

![]() | Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG APO Macro Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras
Buy new: $202.58 / Used from: $181.99 Great budget lens without breaking the bank. It also has Macro & it comes with a nice hood. Currently I have upgraded to a Canon 70-300mm lens with the image stabilization which is a better lens, but it costs more than twice as much as the Sigma 70-300mm. The Sigma lens is still adequate enough for simple uses if you are on a budget and an overall good value for a lens in this range.

![]() | Canon EW63II Lens Hood for EF 28 f/1.8, 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 & 28-105 f/4.0-5.6 SLR Lens
Buy new: $24.74 A necessity with the Canon 28-105. Compliments that lens perfectly.

![]() | Canon 430EX Speedlite Flash for Canon Pro1, Pro 90, G Series and all EOS SLR Cameras
Buy new: $237.19 Great external flash if you want to save bucks compared to the 580EX. Works good enough for me.

![]() | Canon Wireless Remote Control RC1 for Digital Rebel
Buy new: $20.86 Nice wireless remote for self shots or when you don't want to press the shutter button for slow shutter settings. Only limitation with the XTi is that you have to use the remote in front of the camera or above it where the XTi's sensor is.
|
![]() | Canon Remote Switch RS60 E3
Buy new: $19.59 Nice remote for the same reasons as the wireless. Convenient because you can stand behind the camera while taking photos. Not necessary to have both kinds of remotes, but I like having both as it depends on what the situation calls for.

![]() | Stroboframe Quick Flip 120 Flash Bracket for Medium-Format Cameras
Buy new: $61.03 Flash brackets are nice to move the flash away from the lens & to help eliminate the red eye. I use the Stroboframe 120 because I like the wide base to accomadate my battery grip. It also works nice with the XTi if you don't use the grip.

![]() | ProMaster Off Camera TTL Cord Canon Flash Cord
Buy new: $48.99 I bought the Promaster off-shoe cord instead of the Canon off-shoe 2 cord because I heard about so many problems with the Canon 2 cord. Check out the website by Arthur Morris (a bird photographer) at http://birdsasart.com/accs which convinced me to go for the Promaster.

![]() | Hoya HMC - Filter - circular polarizer - 58 mm
Buy new: $36.25 / Used from: $101.19 A step above the basic UV filter and one of the best filters to use for all-around shooting. Remove reflections & make those blue skies more blue! The circular polarizer filter is a must have for all serious photographers!

![]() | Sto-Fen OMEW Omni-Bounce Diffuser
Buy new: $9.65 I like using the diffuser with my 430EX for bounce flashes & some direct flashes. It emits a softer light when directed at your subjects which is more comfortable for them (if your subjects are people). Overall it helps eliminate harsh shadows. The only downside is you might have to increase the flash compensation which might drain your flash batteries a little more faster.
