Awesome Worship
I loved this CD...[slow in getting it but nevertheless], his song "Your Glory" literally woke me up out of my sleep. The alarm alone couldnt do it :) - and I woke up feeling so blessed by his song.
Will you be undignified?
I came upon this CD in Wal-Mart a long time ago, and decided to buy it because I enjoy praise and worship. The songs are catchy and will set the atmosphere. I enjoy Hurd's arrangement of "Let It Rise," it's upbeat and joyous. "Lead me to the Rock" is song that will make you forget where you are. It declares that You (Jesus) are my firm foundation, my salvation, my solid rock. The CD has a great mixture of arrangements for ensembles and choirs. My favorites are "Let It Rise," "Cry Out O Zion," "Rejoice," "Lead me to the Rock," Undignified," and "Your Glory."
An Excellent Praise and Worship Leader
Praise and Worship music is probably the most popular form of gospel music right now (my favorite gospel dj in Atlanta devotes a whole hour to just P&W every Sunday morning). It has also become a form of music which has allowed egotistical individuals to anoint themselves (on both the professional or within your local church) as worship leaders. And what should be set aside as a time for the leader to minister to the people; has sadly turned into an opportunity to put "self on parade".
Well Stephen Hurd is no such P&W leader. Its not all about him. On this album you will not hear him drag a song on for eternity, or try to show off his vocal prowess, or talk endlessly before, during or after a song, or improvise on each and every song just to show you how versatile he can be.
He keeps it simple and realizes that the Holy Spirit is the Minister and Stephen Hurd is only the Vessel. Which is why he is one of my favorite P&W leaders because he is NOT ANNOYING.
Lead Me to the Rock is my favorite song on this album. I loved it when I first heard it, but, one day in particular as I was driving home listening to this song I just broke down crying. Because there are truly times when your heart is overwhelmed that you need the Rock to lead you to a higher place.
Much love to Stephen Hurd and Corp. Worship. Keep doing it just the way you are doing it.
