Diversity is more than just a buzzword for Donnie McClurkin. As shown by his massive success both inside and outside the U.S., the right reverend from Long Island embraces many stylistic approaches (and languages) as he delivers his brand of gospel. It's never more evident than in Psalms, Hymns & Spiritual Songs, a McClurkin double-disc live worship celebration. Opening with Robin Mark's "Days of Elijah" and McClurkin's own "I Will Sing," a praise-and-worship motif sets the stage for later similar tracks like Michael W. Smith's "Agnus Dei" and the medley "Draw Me Close/I Am Thine Oh Lord." Backed by a 40-piece orchestra and a powerhouse choir, McClurkin closes the opening disc strongly in tandem with the legendary Richard Smallwood on the classic "Total Praise." The second disc is dedicated more to traditional gospel with tracks like "I Love To Praise Him" and "Jesus Medley." McClurkin livens up the fare with the "Language" medley, singing in English, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish, ending the string with Joann Rosario as they duet on "Saciame Senor Yo Se Que Estas Aqui." You shouldn't miss the bonus cut here as well with McClurkin and Kirk Franklin teaming up for a slick and pleasing cover of the 70's soul classic "Ooh Ooh Child." The offering is generous on Psalms, Hymns & Spiritual Songs and Pastor McClurkin holds nothing back in this fire-and-ice worship celebration. --Michael Lyttle

ultimate worship5
What a wonderful, spiritually uplifting cd! This cd was better than I anticipated. I would highly recommend this to anyone who feels like the world sometimes is overwhelming them with its cares and burdens. It's not God's will for us to be beat up by life. Take a moment to listen to this cd and get refreshed in His presence!

This album is golden5
Donnie McClurkin's voice is a blessed vehicle that immediately transports the listener to a place of total praise and worship. This album contains traditional as well as contemporary songs, yet through the timbre and power of McClurkin's voice and God's amazing anointing on him, McClurkin is able to transform those songs and deliver the most worshipful and powerful anthems.

I listen to this album over and over in my car and whether it's the repetitive chant "There's no God like Jehovah" in the song "Days of Elijah" or "Agnus Dei", "Great and Mighty" "Total Praise", "Ooh Child", or the oldies in the "Blood Medley", I soon have my passengers singing and worshipping along. Whenever I play this album, my friends always go out to purchase a copy. Is there a greater testimony? If I had to take only one album from my music collection, this would have to be it.

McClurkin is clearly musically gifted because his style and delivery with the accompaniment of his choir is soul-stirring. My hands go up in praise. His genius in singing to people of different cultures and languages gives him worldclass appeal. He reaches out to the global stage in a very respectful manner through language and style and leads his diverse audience into a time of worship.

This album was not recommended to me. Rather I happened to see it in the store and purchased it after having heard his "Live in London" album. I have not been dissapointed but instead I've been richly blessed and I thank God for Donnie McClurkin that he has used his talent of song and music. This album is a must buy!! Seriously.
