Product Description

The national bestselling author of The Preacher's Son and So You Call Yourself A Man returns with a scandalously spirited new novel about a woman who knows she's her husband's First Lady--but doesn't want to be his last...

Charlene Wilson, First Lady of First Jamaica Ministries, has lived a good life with two wonderful children and her beloved husband, Bishop T.K. Wilson. Now the Lord is calling her home at the age of forty-four. She's ready to go, but what will happen to T.K. after she's gone?

The Bishop may be a man of God, but he's still a man who needs a woman. Trouble is, T.K. is just as naïve as any other man when it comes to women--especially slick-ass, bible-toting, man-hungry church women. That's why Charlene has planned a way to hang around in spirit--to make sure her replacement is a good one.

First in line is Marlene, the mother of T.K.'s illegitimate daughter, Tanisha. Then there's Monique Johnson, First Lady of Plastic Surgery and Implants. The only thing real about Monique is how much she wants T.K. Next is Savannah Dickens, the church's attractive new choir soloist, who's also the daughter of a prominent church elder. And last but not least is Charlene's good friend, Sister Lisa Mae Johnson, widow of Pastor Lee Jones.

With the help of her friend Alison, Charlene anticipates any scenario that might occur in a series of letters addressed to the lucky ladies. Alison has vowed to keep an eye on T.K.'s social life and deliver them as needed. No one else knows about the letters, but rest assured, they will shake up a whole lot of people. Charlene may soon be gone, but her presence will be felt...

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly
Bestselling author Weber (So You Call Yourself a Man) serves up another scintillating slice of church politics as a Queens preacher is forced to decide who will be his church's new first lady after his wife dies. Bishop T.K. Wilson's wife, Charlene, is on her deathbed with pancreatic cancer, and with the help of her best friend, she drafts five letters—one to each of the four women she feels could be contenders for the title of First Lady of Jamaica Ministries—and one to her husband encouraging him to move on after her death and marry someone who can help him lead the church. Per Charlene's request, the letters are delivered after she dies, setting into motion a catty, gossipy page-turner as the chosen four vie for T.K.'s proposal. But who will win: Marlene, a recovering addict and mother of T.K.'s illegitimate child; Savannah, a deacon's daughter who is struggling to make a name as a gospel singer; Monique, "the first lady of plastic surgery and implants"; or Lisa Mae, a wily and sometimes cutthroat widow? Weber keeps the pacing brisk and loads the narrative with enough surprise turns to keep readers guessing to the end. (Jan.)

What kinda church is this???4
Oh my lawwwddd... lawwwwwdd..... lawd.... Lawddddd! He brought in the sisters 2 by 2, Marlene, Savannah, and Monique too, Charlene the control freak just trying to do right for her Husband, the Bishop, after she died!

Oh my lawwwddd... lawwwwwdd..... lawd.... Lawddddd! I don't wanna judge and I don't wanna seem mean but in this church I don't wanna be seen. If you thought `Young and Restless' was bad, well you don't wanna see Lisa Mae when she's mad!!

Oh my lawwwddd... lawwwwwdd..... lawd.... Lawddddd! Mmmmm hmmmmmm!! You head to the Lords house and for Jesus you'll search, but I can't believe you wore THAT to church!!!! I know the Lord said be fruitful and multiply but did he mean for you to show that much thigh?

Oh my lawwwddd... lawwwwwdd..... lawd.... Lawddddd! Carl Weber is a talent that I'm starting to like, unlike Trustee Black, his head's on right! Hmmmmm hmmmmmm!!!

knocked me out !!!4
i must say it was a good book i didn't like the female that he picked. it was like she was the church whore an he deserve better than that. but it was a lesson learned dn't go by wat people want you to go, go where your heart is. but she cud have presented herself better than that to. but thats all i can say i actually screamed when i read the ending omg!!! but good book good book

Very Real Picture of Church Folks4
This book is a hilarious picture of what real church drama includes. I've never thought of a first lady picking her own successor, but it was great. I could see a movie being created around this storyline. It's a new favorite for me from Mr. Weber.
