If You Like the Soundtrack of Bleach, You'll Love this CD!5
This Original SoundTrack (a.k.a. OST) for Bleach is phenomenal! When my sister and I watched the first episode of this anime, we were immediately addicted to the series. This storyline was something neither of us had seen before. The music was compelling too. I wasn't surprised to find out the soundtrack was composed by Shiro Sagisu of "Neon Genesis Evangelion" and "His and Her Circumstances" fame.

This CD has the BGM tracks from the series, (BGM=BackGround Music), and this is always a plus because some US anime soundtracks either have songs that never were played in the series, or leave out some songs, or never include the instrumental background tracks. These tracks are used often enough in the series that you can immediately recognize them all.

If you are a Bleach fan, especially of the anime, you'll love this CD. You could wait until this series is licensed in the United States before purchasing this CD; however, when I checked out how much it would cost here , I found that it cost just a little over $20 to get this CD--that's fantastic considering it's an import (super saver shipping is not available for it, though). To order it in other places, it could cost $30+! I highly recommend getting this CD!

Also, for a little extra info on Track list above: Track #2, "Asterisk" by Orange Range is the OST version, so it's not the same as the TV opener (different arrangement and longer length) and track #25, "Thank You!!", is by HOME MADE Kazoku. These vocalists are two popular male Japanese bands and perfect picks for a Shonen title. "Asterisk" is the first season's Opening Theme and "Thank You!!" is the Closing Theme #2. Closing Theme #1 is "Life is Like a Boat" by Rie Fu (Track #23). Track #12, "Nothing Can be Explained" by Mike Wyzgowski (of London-based sextet Garlic) and #21, "Number One" by Hazel Fernandes are both completely in English. "Nothing Can be Explained" is an eerie song, which makes it perfect for a story about a Death God (a.k.a. Shinigami) who hunts evil spirits. It's usually played when Ichigo, the main character, is facing his inner demons (literally and figuratively). "Number One" sounds like soul music (excuse the pun) and is used mostly when Ichigo, the main character, reveals his extraordinary Shinigami powers and is about to kick some serious enemy tail(a clip of this song plays when he first became a Shinigami). Finally, Track #6, "Ditty for Daddy", is a BGM other reviewers say they hate. It's mostly used for the weird/funny scenes and has a cartoon/bluegrass sound to it, which may be why they dislike it. When I play this OST, I don't like to listen to this track every time, but it's not as horrible as some others have said, just annoying sometimes.

This can be an expensive CD to buy. I was able to find mine for 12.99 at a Japanese import store. If you don't like the prices, you should also be able to find an album at import websites, import stores, and anime conventions. If you don't want to run all over the place to get it, you might find it at other "auction"-type sites (but this site is as good as any for this item).

I like a few of the songs4
As a huge fan of bleach, I decided to get this cd while in Japan. (so I wouldn't have to pay so much for shipping).
I can say that the music is pretty good. A few of the songs are annoying (ditty for daddy) but the others are pretty good on their own. For those of you who would buy this only for the beginning and ending themes(like me), I would not reccomend it. The version of Asterisk (thats the 2nd song, but i can't spell it) is the tv edit, where you can find the full version of the songs from other sources (i think i saw a cd in japan with all of the themes on it).
Anyway, I like most of the songs, so I think it deserves a 4 out of 5 stars. If you're a huge bleach fan, you should get it.

Ichiban!5
I was able to get the BLEACH OST (Original SoundTrack) several months ago and despite the fact that it is background music with only 5 vocal tracks, I have been compelled to play it many times.

Ever since I saw the first episode of BLEACH, I was intrigued by the music and its great atmosphere, which fits the series very well. The first scene used the opener 'On The Precipice of Defeat.' If there's one song you must sample, it's this one. (Or maybe Creeping Shadows, or Destiny Awaits, or Never Meant to Belong, or...)

In this OST, a range of emotions is evident, from the mysterious opener & vocal 'Nothing Can Be Explained' by Mike Wyzgowski, to battle music like Blaze of the Shinigami, to the peaceful and pensive ending tracks. Each one has great instrumentation (e.g. Catch-22) and composition. Some of the electric guitar in there is awesome, as well. The whole OST is a very pleasing to the ear.

I highly recommend this to anyone who has also been intrigued by the music of BLEACH. And, for those who read the manga, it's brilliant background music for when you read. ;3
