Hot-tempered 15-year-old Ichigo Kurosaki, the hero of the popular fantasy-adventure Bleach, has the unsettling ability to see spirits who are unable to rest in peace. His sixth sense leads him to Rukia, a Soul Reaper who destroys Hollows (soul-devouring monsters) and ensures the deceased find repose with the Soul Society. When she's injured in battle, Rukia transfers her sword and much of her power to Ichigo, whose spiritual energy makes him a formidable substitute Soul Reaper. But the orange-haired teenager isn't sure he wants the job: too many risks and moral dilemmas.

Awesome
Well, this is the third volume of Tite Kubo's Manga, "Bleach." It was one of my favorite volumes so far! It says a lot about Ichigo's past, including what happened to his mother. There are of course many comedic moments, as well as some great fight scenes. But, this volume is mostly explaining Ichigo's past, so, if you're looking for something with just an all-out battle from cover to cover, this is not for you. It does have an awesome fight scene, but it doesn't engulf the whole book. It has a very good plot, and I highly recommend it! But, it is moslty aimed at boys around 12-15, (even though I'm a girl) so, if you're an adult who likes more adult manga you wouldn't like it. I hope I helped you make a good selection for your manga! And, if you do order this, I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I did!
Best installment so far in any of the manga I've read this year.
Tite Kubo, Bleach: Memories in the Rain (Viz, 2002)
Memories in the Rain shows why Bleach is such a well-loved and long-running series. Kubo completely shifts gears here and pulls it off with aplomb. While there's still a good deal of action to be found, the core of this volume is Ichigo at his mother's graveside, contemplating her death and his part in it. Kubo does reflective as easily as he does action, and there's some real emotion to be found in these pages. Strongest volume in the series so far. ****
