Essentially Bryan Singer's love letter to to Superman 1 + 2, this is an emotionally rich sequel that is vastly underrated.

Hellboy II is the ultimate superhero fantasy film, with all of the creatures and colorful characters you could ask for. It is far more light-hearted than most of the pictures on this list, and that is a major plus for Hellboy II.

X-Men 2 is one of the greatest superhero films of all time. The story is complex and so are the characters. At the end of the film, you have gone through the journey. Classic!

Another sequel that surpasses the original in every way. Dr. Octopus is MUCH more a MUCH more effective villain than the goofy Green Goblin. This is probably the most emotional a superhero film is allowed to get before becoming contrived (Spider-Man 3).

What else needs to be said, the movie has just come out in the theaters, and more than lives up to the hype. A special film, and the finest hour for superhero movies. This movie cannot be stopped!
