Editorial Reviews

About the Author
Geoff Hohwald has played and taught the banjo for more than forty years. He originally studied with the likes of John Hickman and Robbie Robinson and later came under the influence of other legendary performers such as Earl Scruggs, Bill Keith, J.D. Crowe and Sonny Osborne. Geoff wrote his first instructional book in 1979, and since then he and Bert Casey have sold almost 900,000 books and videos worldwide.

Geoff spent thirty years and traveled thousands of miles in a quest for the licks that capture the true essence of bluegrass banjo. For the first time he has compiled the results of a lifetime of listening, searching, analyzing, and refining in a single edition.

He would like to thank Billy McKinley, Sandy Rothman, Herb Trotman, Ted Billeadeaux, Tom Dew, Mike Mason, Judge Parker, Kerry Warbington, Joe Zalik, and Harry Sparks for their contributions to this book.

Geoff has also written the Banjo Primer book and video course.

Customer Reviews

Great Book5
If you like bluegrass banjo you could buy this book just for the music on the CD. The tablature is good and consistant with the CDs. Don't buy this book if you want to learn to play the banjo, instead buy it to sharpen your skills, and have fun playing.

Banjo book4
Just what the doctor ordered. Many songs with numerous breaks for variety. Good CD to see how you are improving.
