Customer Reviews

This is a must-have book for Bluegrass5
I think the other reviewer might have meant to give this 5 stars. This is one of two books that it seems every Bluegrass player owns. Most copies have many pages turned down and look like they've been left out by the campfire, which they probably have. The other book to own is the Bluegrass Songbook by Pete Wernick. Together these books will give you a great source for the words to many Bluegrass songs without the annoying pop-ups of most online lyrics sites.

5 Stars for newbies5
If you can read even just a little music and would like to know the melody of a song, this is the book for you. Being relatively new to bluegrass, I do not know names of songs but do recognize the melodies. With this book, even not knowing the melody is no problem. Play the melody straight out of the book! Bonus, if you need an impromptu solo, play the melody! This book has really benefited me in learning traditional bluegrass and gospel songs. If you don't read music... well, the chords are displayed above the music notation and lyrics as well.
