Awesome boat to go rafting down a river
A couple of months ago we wanted to go rafting down the Truckee river in Lake Tahoe, but they wanted to charge us $35 per person and it was already late too. So we decided to come back some other time with our own boat and gear. About a month ago, I bought a Seahwak II inflatable boat from Amazon and some life saver vests for my boys. I had no previous experience rafting down a river, so I wanted to be cautious. The weather forecast was more windy and colder than the day before. However, after 3 and a half hours of rafting we made it! There were times when I thought the boat was just gonna break from the rocks and tree branches hanging on the river. Other times when the river became more aggressive we just hold to the boat really hard and the boat did pretty good. I was really impressed that at the end of the trip after hitting rocks, branches and bridges columns the boat looked like new. We saw other boats almost full of water and just about to die, but our boat looked just fine. I would highly recommend this awesome boat.
Best Boat for Price
If you love being on the water but don't have a lot of spare cash, this boat is perfect. It is just as good as any rowboat. Is incredibly stable in the water. When inflated it feels like a whitewater rated raft, and I am sure it could handle most mild rapid. It is good for three adults, two if you really want to have space. I only use it to get to an island so we can squeeze 5 adults on for the short trip. I am absolutely in awe of this inexpensive yet tough, durable, large and stable boat. If you have any interests in getting a raft a promise you will not be sorry with this one. I haven't tried any other rafts, however I have no desire to... this one is perfect.
Oars are fragile
The raft performed well on river trip with a few Class I (borderline Class II) rapids. There is one major problem. The oars that came with the raft both broke, or rather, the cheap plastic couplings that held them together broke. These oars are not designed for rigorous rowing; not fun when it snaps while trying to line up for a run through the rapids. Fortunately, one of my group had a spare set of oars. If you buy this raft, be prepared to purchase a decent set of oars, but realize that they will have to fit through relatively small oar locks. The hand pump worked well. About 10-15 minutes of steady pumping to fill up the raft. The included duffle bag is also too small. The raft, oars, and pump barely fit shipped from the factory. Good luck trying to get the raft rolled tight enough to get it back in the bag after use. The bag is still useful to hold the pump and the remaining fragments of your broken oars, though.
