From AudioFile
Goleman (EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE) converses with Kabat-Zinn (a mindfulness guru and founding director of the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine) about the role of emotional intelligence and mindfulness practices in leadership and business settings. Listeners will feel as though they're overhearing a genuine exchange of ideas between old friends exploring the interconnections of their work. Kabat-Zinn's definition of mindfulness--the opposite of frenetic multitasking, it's a purposeful attention in the present moment without judgment--prompts Goleman to cite scientific data about emotion-based intuition versus rational thought, and off they go, gaining energy from each other's insights. Their unique and seemingly minimally staged conversation is compelling and will likely lead interested listeners to read more of each author's work. Mindfulness@Work is enjoyable to listen - it is clear, direct, and has thought provoking points. It is especially good for those have some basic knowledge on mindfulness and would like to look at boarder application to improve productivity and work relationships.
