Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly
Rubin (The Maker's Diet) and host of the Christian-based television show Extraordinary Health offers this fairly complicated 16-week diet plan that is heavy on his Garden of Life company's products and general enough for non-Christian readers. Many of the ideas are familiar to health aficionados: the benefits of filtered water and organic, locally grown, in-season fruits and vegetables; the value of high-fiber and high protein foods; warnings against refined carbohydrates, trans fats, artificial sweeteners, diet drinks and—more oddly—microwave ovens. Rubin, founder of the Biblical Health Institute, also offers a Healing Codes exercise involving breathing and meditation to reduce stress and a suggested workout program, which focuses on short, intense bouts of exercise. Eight pages of testimonials, 33 pages of recipes (most include his products) and a 66-page detailed meal-by-meal eating plan round out the text. A Web site, www.PerfectWeightAmerica.com, promises to help readers access more diet tools. For a diet book, this is surprisingly wordy and densely written, but Rubin fans who want a fully detailed eating plan—and don't mind extensive product pitches—probably won't mind its verbosity. Perfect Waste2
At least Jordan Rubin is consistent, he recommends the same products and foods in The Maker's Diet, Restoring your Digestive Health, and all of his Great Physician's Prescription Books. This book adds Fucothin. A $50 product consisting of a metabolism boosting brown seaweed, Fuoxanthin. He adds in this book some metabolic typing, in which he take Wolcott's Metabolic Typing Diet and transforms the protein, mixed, and carb types into meat people (who need protein) and potato people (who need carbs).

The entire book is nothing more than an advertisement for Garden of Life, Rubin's line. Now, don't get me wrong, the diet is perfectly good to follow, and Garden of Life is a top-notch brand. But if you buy the bars, the shakes, the green powder, cod liver oil, cleanse, and Fucothin, you will have made quite an investment. The entire program is sixteen weeks in length.

There are some success stories in the book, but bear in mind, these people got all of the products free of charge. I like Jordan Rubin, and The Maker's Diet was a wonderful book; but, this book is nothing more than a moneymaker for him. The useful, and new information in this book could have been put into a pamphlet, seriously. I don't recommend it, there are better diet books out there.

perfect weight america my personal story5
The Perfect Weight America Program is a true god send. I know because I won the 16 week Perfect Weight America Program which started in Delray Beach Florida this past june. I was skeptical at first, but I tried the products, and whole food recomendations and stayed focused and on course. In june 2007 I was weighing 240# 5' 7 1/2 inches tall with a 44" waist , (I am an oil field worker in the Gulf of Mexico), by november 2007 I weighed 190#'s with a 36" waist when i completed the 16 week program. Sure, I could have found excuses ,complained and got off course, but my wife stood by me, and Jordan Rubin and the Biblical Health Institue helped me along the way. Today february 2008, I weigh 192#s with a 34" waist and I am very healthy at 54 years young. I have literally rebuilt my body with whole food and whole food supplements, I am off blood pressure and cholesterol medications. Every day I plan my meals with the lessons learned from the Perfect Weight America Program. Jordan Rubin is a Dedicated Coach who walks the walk and talks the talk. His program does not send you pre-packaged and chemically processed foods to your door step. His program advocates awarness, choosing organic, whole foods, and whole food supplemts along with exercise, and all three of these key items work together. You have to ask your self what is your health worth, Jordan Rubin reminded me, I had taken too many things for granted for too long, and I am grateful to the Biblical Health Institue and Jordan Rubin for being there when I needed them.

Good Advice4
Nothing new here except for Fucoxanthin. Stay away from processed foods, sugars, and so on. I've read the book, generally followed the diet, taken the supplements, and consistently feel much better (energy, focus, mood, vitality and so on) than when I started. We cheat here and there, so the weight hasn't fallen off. The supplements are super and reasonably priced. We're a single income household of 8, so we know about budgeting and food cost. We generally spend about the same as before because the junk costs just as much and doesn't do the jobs of nourishment and replenishment. We have heartily embraced a way to eat better and care for our health. We're on fewer prescriptions, get sick less. This is worth the read. One thing's for sure, nothing will work if we don't really want it to work. This program does work, surely like many others. We've picked a path and are staying on it. We happen to like this one a lot.
