About the Author
This is the second book in a planned series by Author Lance Waite. Lance lives in Southern California with his two daughters and wife Anna, where they enjoy many opportunities for days like the ones described in his first two books. He hopes through these stories, fathers will be inspired to increase their time and improve the quality of the time they spend with their children and that children come to realize that a day with dad outside can be a lot of fun.

A Beautiful and Very Special Book
I have mentioned before on my blog that I enjoy reading children's books. Not only because I like to know what my kids are reading but also because I enjoy the whimsical artwork and the sweet little stories. I have always had a fondness for wonderful children's books. I still have about two dozen of my favorite books from when I was a child that I like to read every now and then because they bring back such wonderful memories.


There are not too many books that I have come across that focus on the very special bond between a parent and a child. I was fortunate to read one such book called A Day With My Dad at the Beach written by Lance Waite and illustrated by Manuela Pentangelo. I LOVE THIS BOOK!


The story is about the special bond between a father and his loving daughter. Unbeknown to the young girl her father plans on a very special day together, just the two of them.


They spend the day together on the beach near their home. There they chase sea gulls, play tag, search for sea shells and build sandcastles. Later on in the day they go for a bite to each at a local pier that has many fun rides and arcade games, similar to a boardwalk.


After some yummy food and fun rides the two head back to the beach to gather their belongings and then head home. Once at home the little girl gets ready for bed after her nice warm bath. After she is snuggled into her bed her father reads her a bedtime story as she slowly falls to sleep.


There are several reasons why I consider this a very special book. For one the artwork is gorgeous. It's so colorful and inviting and makes me want to jump inside the book and hang out on the beach too. Kudos to the illustrator for a fabulous job with this book.


I also love how the whole story flows as one long poem. When you read it out loud it's lyrical, like you are singing a song. The story just flows so nicely. The author also paints beautiful images in your head about how wonderful it must be to spend a very special day at the beach like this father and daughter.


I also enjoyed how the father and daughter not only had fun together but talked to one another too, talking about the future, the importance of friends and family in our lives and how very special days like the day they spent together are the kind you should never forget and should live in your heart and memories forever.


After reading this book it inspired me to want to make plans with my children to spend the day with them individually. We always go everywhere together as a family and we do things together as a family, which is great. But sometimes I feel that the kids need to have that special one-on-one time. Maybe we can arrange a special Daddy and Me day for our daughter and a Mommy and Me day for our son. Then vice versa another time.


Even my husband enjoyed reading this book. I think he got a bit misty eyed after he read it because he realizes that days like their special day at the beach are few and far between and children grow up so quickly that one day they will be on their own and you won't be able to re-create something like this again.

Charming
This book describes a charming day , a little girl and her father spend at the beach. I am not sure the words needed to rhyme, but some of it was very clever and well done. I love the art work, it shows the personalities of the father and daughter very well. If I had kids, I think this would be one Dad could read to them and enjoy.
