Time to sleep little bear.5
Mr Bear's New Baby (Mr.Bear)
Mr. Bear's new baby can't sleep, and won't stop crying. While Mr. and Mrs. Bear try their best to get the baby to stop crying and go to sleep, one by one their sleepless forest neighbors arrive to offer help and advice. But it's their own Small Bear who'll have the answer they need.

This book honors the role of mothers, siblings, and friends in taking care of a new baby, while at the same time emphasizing a father's role in parenting and celebrating the very special bond between a father and his children. That's no mean feat for a children's story, and this book pulls it off with warmth and style.

For Any Older Sibling Reluctantly Welcoming a New Baby5
This is such a special book that we've given a few as gifts. Gift#1 was given to a friend who's name is Bear and my kids now call him Mr.Bear. He has two daughters and this book celebrates the bond between siblings, sisters, harried parents of little ones and friends who have been there too! I also "Perform" the voices of all the characters when I read it, so it has become a howlingly-funny favorite of my family's.

Sleep Deprived Families Can Relate to This Story 4
Mr. Bear's New Baby is a story that anyone who has experienced the joys of sleep-deprivation due to a newborn baby in the house can appreciate. Poor Mr. Bear can't figure out how to stop his new baby from crying all night long. He has tried everything. All of the books that he has read on how to solve his child's sleep problems are strewn across the floor. He is baffled. His neighbors try to help, but to no avail. Finally, the baby's sibling comes up with a solution that works.

Mr. Bear's New Baby, while a bit long for a read-aloud book (my four year old daughter began to fidget half-way through the reading) is still a charming story with delightful illustrations. (Note: Those opposed to co-sleeping with a baby may not approve of the ending.)
