Keeps getting better4
I've been getting Creating Keepsakes magazine for about a year now (just renewed my subscription) and I've been pleased with the changes that they have made over the past year and think that the magazine is definitely better now than a year ago. The editors have made a concerted effort to start including more layouts featuring multiple photos and a more basic simple design. In my view these are the kinds of layouts that most scrapbookers want to see. We don't want to have to buy a room full of fancy products to scrapbook pages that only have one photo. If you are really into cutting edge art on scrapbook pages, then this change in focus of the magazine may not be so appealing to you. Each month they now include a tear out page of layout designs to help readers with page ideas. This has probably been my favorite part of the magazine of late.

Some of the other things about the magazine that have been consistently good include: 1) Review of hot new products, 2) New ideas for organizing specific scrapbooking supplies, and 3) many inspiring layouts.

One section that can still use some work is the section on reader's scrapbooking space. It seems like each month they feature someone who spends their whole paycheck on scrapbooking. Most of the spaces just aren't realistic to the average scrapbooker (no we can't have as many paper shelves as the scrapbook store).

Overall, I would recommend this magazine to people. It offers great new ideas for layouts, many of which don't require buying fancy new tools and can help you get a lot of photos scrapbooked in a short amount of time. I've subscribed to both this and Simple Scrapbooks magazine and I think that as currently being published this magazine is superior (not to mention that Simple Scrapbooks is bimonthly and Creating Keepsakes comes every month and has more pages).

More tips & info compared to other magazines4
When you're looking for a scrapbook book or magazine, there seem to be two types - ones that are nothing but page after page of photos of layouts, and ones that mix in an even number of layout photos plus text (tips, reviews, explanations, techniques, etc).

CK is the only magazine I've found that is pretty solidly in the second category, which is what I'm looking for. If you want endless layout photos, try Memory Makers or Scrapbooks, Etc. I like CK because it has actual articles that go beyond just explaining what products were used in a particular layout to things like time management, organizing your space, photography tips, etc. The downside to the magazine is that it does tend to be ad-heavy.

Disappointing Magazine.....2
I was disappointed with this magazine.... It has way too many advertisements in it for the price.

I felt some of the articles and layouts were interesting/appealing, but most of the projects weren't for me.... either too difficult or not to my liking. I am a novice scrapbooker and was hoping that this magazine would cater more to the beginner on how to get started with basic ideas on page layouts, tips and tricks or the trade and so on.

The best issue of Creating Keepsakes I've seen to date is the one on the best scrapbooking tools.... otherwise most of the issues having been disappointing for me anyway.
