Imagine owning the perfect wardrobe. It's easy with Dressing Nifty After Fifty, the definitive guide to a simple, stylish wardrobe.
Just as one size does not fit all, one wardrobe does not fit all. Unlike any other wardrobe book, the process outlined in Dressing Nifty After Fifty is highly individualized, asking the reader to start by making a list of her activities during a typical 14-day period. Next, she'll discover how to build a wardrobe on three basic colors, enhance her body shape with clothes, look thinner and taller, add spice to her outfits with her most flattering colors, and combine comfort and style with her shoes. To help the reader complete her ideal wardrobe plan, tips are included for closet cleanup, clothing maintenance, shopping, grooming, travel, and ways to stay gorgeous as time goes by.
By adopting this system of dressing, the reader will have a wardrobe for all of her activities. She will find that by concentrating on the quality, rather than the quantity, of her wardrobe, she will love and wear everything that she owns. Most important, she will gain a sense of control over her life, giving her the freedom to spend her energy and time on the things she wants to do and the people she loves.

From the Publisher
Willcott & Corn Books is pleased to publish Dressing Nifty After Fifty, the definitive guide to a simple, stylish wardrobe.
Women over 50 lead busy lives. They have neither the time nor the patience to fuss with their wardrobes. In addition to their everyday activities, they are also evaluating their priorities and goals for the future. Regardless of which path they decide to take, the one problem that remains is what to wear. Dressing Nifty After Fifty provides the answer with an easy, step-by-step guide to a simple, suitable, and stylish wardrobe.
From the Author
This book is for any woman who wants to create a simple, stylish wardrobe for her prime-time years. Perhaps you are fortunate and already know how to assemble the ideal wardrobe. For me, it has been a real challenge. For most of my life, I have been confronted by that eternal mystery: a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear.
When I calculated a few years ago that the amount of clothes I owned was increasing each year by geometric proportions, I made the decision to get real about my wardrobe. Although part of me wanted to keep on buying more, I simply was tired of owning so many clothes. I hated to open my closet door and see my pretty clothes crammed together, some with their price tags still on, waiting to be worn. I became determined to have a closet with only those clothes that were suitable for all of my lifestyle needs and, at the same time, fashionable and up-to-date.
My challenge was to develop an effective, easy way to figure out exactly what clothes I needed and how to be in style without sacrificing comfort and fit. After some painful years of many trials and errors, I came up with a foolproof system to create a simple, suitable, and stylish wardrobe.
And so can you! If you follow the step-by-step process outlined in Dressing Nifty After Fifty, you can have the perfect wardrobe that takes you anywhere for any occasion.

Customer Reviews
Buy this book, invest in yourself.
Many thanks to Ms. Richardson for writing this book. I would stare at the fashion magazines' outfits for women of different ages and could not decipher what the subtle differences were that made them age-appropriate. It was very frustrating but now I have her clear explanations to guide me. Particularly helpful were the clarifications of how much to dress up when (casual chic vs. dressy, formal business vs. casual business, etc.) and the two-color/three-color rules. Ms. Richardson takes one from almost getting a sometimes rigid dress code right to being spot on. Her logic is simple to follow and, more importantly, so simple to implement. A reader can take any one suggestion from this book and improve her wardrobe without spending a cent.
not so nifty
This is a good basic guide for women who haven't given much thought to their appearance while taking care of everybody else. The author has laid out a simple plan for creating a wardrobe from scratch. But I didn't find the advice I was looking for. I'm 57 and have acquired a "menopause tummy" which complicates my inverted triangle shape. I didn't find anything here to help me shop for a better look. In fact, the author suggested a couple of styles for my body type that I know are unflattering and not what other style books recommend. When will we short chunky gals get our style guru? Truth to tell, I've gotten the most help from the television show What Not to Wear and a great book by Kendall Farr called The Pocket Stylist. I was hoping to find similar advice in this book, adjusted for an older age group. This book did not help me, but for a woman who is essentially clueless about fashion and needs good practical coaching to shape up, this one is for her.
Simplify your life and look stylish at any age.
I have been able to unclutter my closet of unused clothing and find ways to combine clothing and accessories I already own to attain a new, updated, stylish look. My husband and my daughter (my worst clothing critic) have already noticed how much better I am dressing. I am getting compliments at my office and more attentive and courteous treatment in stores and restaurants. My husband and I were even given a chocolate chip cookie as a special treat at a sandwich shop! This book is simple, customized and the principals apply to any age group.
