Review
Allows Lean to be applied in administrative areas with a simple 1-2-3 step process. We recently purchased some of these and found the additional 5S Desktop Pocket Handbook extremely helpful. --Doug Beument, Training Manager, ADVO Food Group
Remarkable collection of Lean tools and examples! We pretty much use this as our bible in the office. The Lean tools are basically explained as they relate to different types of non-manufacturing examples. We also like the human issues that are discussed throughout the book. --Chris Knight, Eaton Customer Service Manager
This book will keep you on the Lean Office journey without any detours. It's a great beginning book for the office and does not confuse you with too much detail. --Jane Hosmer, Training and Organizational Development Manager, Midwest Financial Group, Inc.

REMARKABLE BOOK FOR LEAN OFFICE
As having read all the books that have come out the past few years regarding Lean being applied in administrative areas, I found Lean Office Demystified the most down-to-earth and practical set of tools in which would allow any office to fully understand and implement the Toyota Production System in these areas. The book has a comprehensive set of worksheets and forms I have ever seen. The Readiness Guides at the end of each of the three Phases are superb in gauging whether you have a good understanding of the material and if you should proceed to the next phase. I have previously purchased the same author's The Lean Office Pocket Guide as an excellent reference. Lean Office Demystified is the complete 1-2-3 step-by-step approach how each Lean office tool should be implemented. We will be purchasing these for all of our office managers to they can get the understanding on the importance of process control. The Lean tools of takt time, standard work, value stream mapping, process mapping, problem-solving, continuous flow, 5S, kanbans (for office supplies), document tagging, etc. are explained and illustrated for any level of office personnel. A strong recommendation to buy!
Wow!
I have never seen the office environment so clearly analyzed from a lean perspective. This book is deceptively simple and easy to understand... and dare I say it, fun to read! I would highly recommend it for those in an office setting who want to start implementing lean tools - without hiring a consultant, reading big heavy books with small print, or flipping through boring PowerPoints. A must-have for the office!
A Good, Solid Lean Office Book
I really like the simplicity of this book and how administrative processes relate directly to possible Lean improvements. We found our customer service department following the book step-by-step, especially Chapter 8. It was an easy adaption to our computer system, however, as we try to become more paperless, we - from the excellent examples demonstrated in the book - created a hybrid e-paper system. We have been using the Lean Office Asssessment as our baseline..as we created a similar one. There was no problem using it exactly, as we contacted the publisher, and he agreed to let us use whatever we wanted. Great book and support!
