12-Volt Litheon Batteries for Long-Lasting Power
The PS30-2A gets its power from Litheon batteries, the most advanced lithium-ion batteries available today. These batteries allow more battery charges and provide longer runtime with no memory effect--meaning the batteries don't need to be empty before charging. The batteries can also be taken out of the charger before charging is complete.

Other benefits include: significantly less self discharge; electronic cell protection that guards against overheating, overload, and deep discharge; and no loss of power from the first to last screw or hole. Best of all, these batteries will fully charge in 30 minutes and will be at 85% capacity in just 15 minutes.

World's Most Powerful Compact Drill/Driver for Most Common Applications
The PS30-2A is the world's most powerful professional compact drill/driver, with the highest torque-to-weight ratio in its category. It features an innovative design that can readily handle 90% of common applications, and its 3/8-inch single-sleeve chuck enables secure use of round shaft bits.

Lightweight and Compact for Flexibility and Comfort
At just 2.4 pounds--50% smaller than a competing NiCad drill--this compact tool is the only of its kind that fits into your tool pouch, making it ideal for performing over-the-head continuous work and accessing tight corners. Its streamlined shape and size minimize wrist and hand fatigue, allowing you to work longer and more comfortably.

Fast, Powerful Operation for Heavy-Duty Jobs
Offering a gear speed of 400/1,100 RPM and providing 220 in./lbs. of torque--twice as much as the competition--this drill/driver easily drills holes up to 1/2-inch in diameter without stalling. It also remains cool to the touch, even after heavy-duty jobs.

Two Speeds for Improved Precision and Versatility
The PS30-2A provides two speeds for versatility and drilling and driving that's two times faster than the competition's. 20+1 clutch settings enable precision driving and prevent over-torque in soft base materials, giving you the flexibility you need to complete a range of jobs. In addition, the trigger is responsive, so you maintain optimum control over the drill speed and avoid stripping screws or splintering wood.

Robust, Durable Design with Convenient Bit Holder and LED
Able to maintain functionality after being dropped, the PS30-2A stands up to rough-and-tough conditions. It also offers the convenience of a universal bit holder so everything you need to complete a project remains close at hand, as well as an LED to increase visibility in low-light or enclosed areas.

ProVantage Guarantee
The PS30-2A comes with the ProVantage three-year protection plan, which guarantees two years of battery protection and one year of tool protection. Under this plan, you can receive two years of free battery replacements, tool replacement for one year, and a free tool repair package for the second and third years.

Big performance in a lightweight, compact package5
I used the compact Ridgid 12V lithium ion driver for over a year and it performed well but this Bosch drill/driver leaves it in the dust. First, there is far greater versatility with the PS30 in that it uses all of the same dedicated Bosch 10.8-volt AND 12-volt lithium ion chargers and batteries in the entire PS series of cordless tools - pocket driver, right angle driver, impact driver and Max Multi-X.

In case you were not aware, the 10.8-volt and 12-volt batteries and chargers are identical and actually the same voltage. Bosch decided to rename their 10.8-volt line as a marketing strategy because all of the competition was using the nominal voltage (12V) where Bosch was using the actual (10.8V). So, I have numerous spare batteries and chargers which is basically a good thing.

Second, the Bosch lithium ion batteries are, IMO, far superior and much more stable than those of Ridgid. No annoying cut-outs under load, no charging issues, no hypersensitivity to temperature.

Lastly, the Bosch drill/driver has greater torque, a 2-speed gearbox and higher RPM's. Yes, it's slightly bigger than its Ridgid rival but the performance of the Bosch is significantly superior.

The Bosch PS30 has good heft and balance despite it being lightweight and compact. It fits the hand nicely and provides a secure grip. The single-sleeve chuck tightens down very well and holds round shank drill bits securely. The variable speed is smooth and precise with no dead spots, great for starting holes. There's a useful LED light to help illuminate the immediate work area. Changing directions is easy and the adjustable torque clutch is responsive throughout the range of settings.

This drill/driver has plenty of power for its size and it hasn't bogged down on me, even with running a 1-3/8" spade bit into Douglas Fir. As a driver, I've set and tightened down 1-3/4" #12 Phillips AND hex head screws in 2x4's with no pilot holes and no hesitation. The two gear speeds enable me to select Hi or Lo and adjust the speed and torque for what the specific job requires.

Will it replace your 18, 24 or 36-volt bad boy? No, it's not designed for that. Should you use it to build a deck? No. Will it handle drilling holes bigger than 1/4" in masonry? No. But, if you use a drill/driver a lot on the job for various routine installations and repairs, including small holes for plastic anchors in masonry, this compact gem from Bosch will handle most - if not all - of your needs.

Professional Quality in a Small Package5
When rumor of this tool first surfaced, I cornered my Fastenal gal who introduced me to the Bosch rep. I have been able to use the PS30-2A on the Job for several months and it is every bit as reliable and tough as my 36V Bosch Hammer Drill.

One of my biggest gripes about the PS20 was the slip chuck and having to use 1/4" bits to drill. Even though it was my favorite tool in the bucket, the PS30 has out shined it in every way. The 3/8" chuck is perfect for all those small / medium drill jobs and will run down small finishing screws into cabinetry flush every time with it's adj clutch. The 2 speeds are great for fine and not so fine applications. In fact we find that we use it for larger jobs when we probably would use the 36V.

The number of times guys on the crew said "toss me that little Bosch" and it not making the connection has proven it toughness. The PS30 has that tough feel to it. You know that Recip saw or grinder that gets tossed into the back of the truck year after year and always works when you pull the trigger. This tool feels the same way. With 2 batteries and a true 30 min charger we have never run out of power in a two day span.

The only problem I have is making sure it is in the bucket in the morning as it seems to make it's way into the house by itself more and more often for those little "Do it Herself" jobs.

A good tool is a joy to use5
This thing is light weight and powerful. You can use in awkward postions and the weight does not tire you out. It has a great form-fit for the hand -- mine isn't small or huge, and it's comfortable. The batteries do fully charge in 30 minutes, making them easy to rotate and get the job done. My wife loves it because even with her smaller hands, it's easy for her to use around the house.

Torque selection and the keyless chuck operate smoothly and clearly indicate the easily adjustable settings. Finally, with a little practice the trigger is so responsive that you maintain real control over drill speed and avoid stripping screws or spintering wood. The LED light is bright enough to make quick work in less than optimal light conditions.

If there are any flaws in the design or operation of this drill, I haven't found them. It's a great tool.
