A must have item
No idea what the reviewer below is trying to say. If you are serious about collecting dust while sanding, this is a must have item. I've been using it for 4 years with 3725DEVS sander and all I can say is it works.
What an improvement
The new version of this adapter is made of much stronger plastic (the original was soft rubber). It also now has two latch type prongs that hold it securely to my sander. Bosch offers four additional adapters to enable you to connect a variety of shop vac hoses to this adapter:
BOSCH 1-1/4" or 1-1/2" hose-to 35 mm port Adapter VAC002
BOSCH 35mm hose-to-1-1/4" port Adapter VAC003
BOSCH 35mm hose to-2-1/4" port Adapter VAC004
You Need an Adapter for this Adapter...
I'm very disappointed in Bosch for the design of this product. This "adapter" will not adapt to anything you have in your workshop, such as a standard 1-1/4" ShopVac hose. It adapts to 35mm. But worse, the product description that Bosch provides does not describe the product at all. No dimensions are given!
If I had *known* that I needed an adapter for this adapter, I would have ordered it at the same time, since the price is less than what it costs to ship. I was able to get this adapter to work by going to my local Woodcraft store and buying an inexpensive vac hose multi-adapter which has stepped diameters. (You just cut it to fit the two parts you're trying to mate.)
Bottom-line: Bosch should *include* a vac adapter with their sanders (I would rather pay a couple extra dollars), and that adapter should be appropriate for the market they're selling in (i.e., North America vs. Europe/Asia). Poor design, poor marketing. I would have thought Bosch could do better.
