Once placed inside of your dryer where it stays secure, heat, plus the tumbling movement of your clothes, allows for the transfer of fabric softener. Install & Replace Over time, you'll notice the bar beginning to wear away, and usually in about 2 or 4 months*, depending on the size of the bar, it will need to be replaced. 1.) Remove paper backing from Bounce Dryer Bar. 2.) Press firmly onto dryer drum. Smooth surfaces work best. 3.) Yes, the Dryer Bar has been tested to show that it's safe for both HE and regular household dryers. In fact, it's even recommended by the Kenmore brand. Will it stick safely in my dryer? When installed properly, the adhesive will remain stuck to the dryer drum until removed, thus locking the bar safely in place. How do I replace it? You'll know it's time to insert a new Dryer Bar when the word "Replace" appears on your old one. Simply pull back the wings on either side of the holder, and the old bar should slide right out. Then simply snap the new one in place. Can I remove the Dryer Bar holder? Generally, you shouldn't need to replace your dryer bar holder to replace your bar. If for some reason you decide to remove the Dryer Bar holder, you can do so in just 3 easy steps: 1.) Turn your empty dryer on the High/Cotton setting for 5 minutes to soften the adhesive. 2.) Wait several minutes for the dryer drum to cool, then use a plastic spatula to gently pry the holder off. Do not use anything metal, as metal can scratch the dryer drum surface. 3.) Use the spatula to rub off any excess residue. You can also use a wet dishtowel with some mild soap like Dawn® Dish Detergent.

A great idea that performs poorly
Purchased this product and attached it to the inside of the dryer drum per the package instructions. With the very first load of clothes, the bar came loose from the base and tumbled around with the clothes resulting in spots on the clothes. I wrote it off as maybe it wasn't seated well in the base and came loose. I reinstalled the bar in the base and it worked fine for the next few loads. While a bedspread was being dried, the bar again came loose from the base and the base also came loose from the drum. Several pieces broke off the bar as it tumbled around resulting in a huge mess in the dryer and lint screen. Based on my experience, I will return to the use of Bounce sheets, a product that as always worked well.

Disappointed
I attached the bar as directed, however after drying the very first load of towels, the actual bar came detached from the base (which was still firmly attached to the dryer).
Also, the bar broke into two smaller pieces. One star since the towels did came out soft and fresh-smelling, however, I don't see how the bar could ever last four months even if I'd tossed one piece at a time in the dryer. BTW, my son threw away one piece I'd placed into the dryer because he thought it was something foreign in the dryer. Que sera.
I noticed areas where it appeared the bar smeared on the towels. Thank goodness it wasn't clothing.

I love this product!
I was skeptical about attaching this to my dryer but I gave it a try. Two months later, I love this product! No more worrying about putting the dryer sheet in with each load, no worrying about the dryer sheet getting stuck in a sleeve or somewhere else in the load, and best of all no more dryer sheets floating around after folding the clothes. I am not a big fan of scented dryer sheets but the Outdoor Fresh was pretty decent. My dryer bar lasted about 2 months and I am most definitely going to continue to use this product.
