Product Description

Grimlock is packed only 1 per case, we unfortunately can't sell it at our normal lower price because we need to recover the expense of purchasing all the other older figures also included in the case. Grimlock is available more inexpensively as part of the set of 6 figures or part of a full case of 8 figures - preorders for both those assortments are also listed on the site. A strong improvement over his Energon incarnation, Grimlock looks to be one of the more impressive contributions to the Classics line. In tyrannosaurus mode, his stance is heavily grounded, cutting an almost horizontal line with his weapon serving as a back-mounted projectile-firing cannon. Complex and densely-armored, his robot mode follows the familiar formula of using the powerful hind legs as arms, with the dinosaur head dividing to form the feet. Grimlockâs character profile defines his armor as an ultramantium skin imbued with the energy-absorbing materials that leave him nearly impervious to damage. Apart from his bayonet blaster, he is described as being able to use his tail as a whip. True to the Grimlock character, his keen strategic mind is obfuscated by his crude speech patterns. He retains his distaste for weakness, while being driven by a greater hatred for those who prey upon the weak.

Completely different transformation than original toy4
This toy is very much more articulated than the original toy, in legs, neck, tail, in short just about everything. This also meant that the transformation mode also was modified to accompany the new features.

In my own opinion, it's a very solid toy, but not quite the type to give to a child under 7 yrs. Too complicated. Otherwise, it's great, sturdy, and after a bit of practice, transforms nicely. Looks great next to Prime (Voyager) and Ultra Magnus (Voyager).

An interesting update4
With my Transformers nostalgia running high due to the recent movie, I picked this up on a whim, along with Deluxe Classic Ramjet. Though it took me a while to warm up to this figure, I've been quite happy with it overall.

Pros:
Both the dinosaur and robot modes look very good, and the dinosaur mode has quite a bit of flexibility. The figure is a bit of a departure from the traditional look of Grimlock, but it retains the essential look of the character. I actually prefer the dinosaur form on this figure than the one on the original figure, and I like the way the two weapons lock into the back of the figure in robot mode.

Cons:
The transformation is a bit complicated, since you have to swivel the dinosaur's hips and legs around to form the robot's arms. It took me a couple of tries to get everything right, and I still have to look at the manual to make sure I'm getting everything right. I am also not terribly fond of the feet in robot mode. They are someone thin, and though the figure seems to balance well, it is not as stable as some other figures in this line.

Overall, I am happy with my purchase. The transformation is a little more complicated than some of the other figures in this line, but the figure gets high marks overall, especially for its great dinosaur mode.

Great review of a classic character5
I own both the first released and this modern version of Grimlock.
This second version is much better articulated than the first one.
The T-rex mode is superior to the prevoious one, especially by its posture and articulated tail.
I like the fact that no item or weapon stays out both in robot and T-rex versions.
Overall he is quite sturdy and true to the spirit of the original version with a plus.
