Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
As Latino superstar Enrique Iglesias moves closer to the U.S. mainstream--or pulls it toward him--Fonovisa Records compiles 10 tracks for this greatest-hits disc. Lush power ballads carry the day here; "Tu Vacio" suggests that Meat Loaf is as much an influence on Enrique as dad Julio. Pop radio and club dance floors aren't ignored, though, as the title track and the house mix "Esperanza" make clear. Bailamos will likely stand as a landmark in a career that appears unstoppable. --Rickey Wright

Avoid This2
Bailamos Greatest Hits was released by Iglesias' first recording label, Fonovisa, after he had left them and signed with Interscope (who promptly sued Fonovisa for using Iglesias' first Interscope hit song "Bailamos"). Despite the title of Greatest Hits the album contains mostly album tracks which were never released as singles ("Nunca te Olvidare" and "Esperanza" were both hits for Iglesias but appear here as radicaly altered remixes.) Despite the album not being endorsed by Iglesias or his management, it sold over a million copies worldwide. The album was released during the period in which Iglesias was recording his English debut abum and it has been speculated that many bought the album mistakenly thinking that it was his first English crossover album. Beware.

Why such popularity?3
Call me crazy, but when Enrique sings in Spanish he is just one of the many good singers out there singing in Spanish. When he sings in English he is the best, in a class by himself, an unmatched talent. Some people seem to like this better, I don't know why. Compared to Cheo Feliciano he is just average.

The best!5
Bailamos - It's on the CD - This is the best so far of all songs I know - I first heard it when Kelly Monaco and Alec Mazo danced their samba in "Dancing with the stars" and I still love the song! :)
