Begun as a Carnegie Mellon University thesis project, Godspell debuted off-Broadway in 1971, became a movie in 1973 and moved to Broadway in 1976. Stephen Schwartz received his second Tony nomination when Godspell was nominated for Best Score in 1977. He had previously been nominated for his 1973 Broadway musical, Pippin, and would again be nominated for his current musical, Wicked.

Our accompaniment/karaoke CD of songs from Godspell features 32 tracks. Tracks 1-16 contain the background tracks and guide vocals; tracks 17-32 contain the accompaniment tracks alone. This album is a re-recording in the original show key and show tempo.

This album plays in any CD player. In a karaoke machine, lyrics will appear on-screen. A lyric booklet is included.

Everything I expected!
I knew what I wanted. This is exactly it. The broadway version of the karaoke...and also a whole seperate CD with vocals tracks too...if you need them. Not the broadway stars of course, but it's not supposed to be.
Shipping was AWESOME and QUICK!!!

Brings back memoires
A pure joy! An amazing musical and great fun to sing along with. The music is very well done.

Not to be confused with original cast recording
This Godspell Accompaniment/Karaoke CD has the same artwork as the Original Broadway Cast recording. It is okay and includes one disk with vocals some of which are quite good and others a tad amateurish. The second disk is the accompaniment disk with just musical tracks and no vocals. It is rather pricey considering. I think the description should plainly state what is printed on the back of the CD "THESE ARE NEW RECORDINGS AND NOT RENDITIONS BY THE ORIGINAL CAST" I was disappointed.
