Editorial Reviews
From the Publisher
"You can go become a tiger, a bear, a lion, or any other animal that is a mascot at schools across this country, but there is only one place in this world you can become a Buckeye. Are you ready to be a Buckeye?"
--Woody Hayes, addressing a new recruit
"I will never forget when I went back to Ohio Stadium for the first time after my playing days were done. I saw that band come down the ramp, march onto the field, and the drum major touching his head to the ground behind him as the crowd was cheering. The next thing I know, tears are rolling down my face."
--Rex Kern
"I am blessed to be where I am from a career standpoint. It is very hard for me to imagine being anywhere better than Ohio State. Coaching college football is like being in paradise. It would be hard to imagine anything better than this."
--Jim Tressel
From the Inside Flap
"Then Tress Said to Troy..." captures the fascinating stories and the behind-the-scenes conversations of more than 115 years of Ohio State Buckeyes football. Witness the history from the day in 1890, when football was nothing more than a curious athletic activity, to what it has become today: the beloved passion of millions centered around fall Saturdays at a giant horseshoe-shaped stadium next to the Olentangy River.
From early legends such as Chic Harley and Les Horvath, to recent superstars such as Archie Griffin, Eddie George, Troy Smith, and hundreds of others in between, this book details the locker room laughter and practice-field hijinks.
In "Then Tress Said to Troy..." you will discover how Buckeyes and U.S. presidents have mixed and mingled through the years, often with humorous results. Learn why Woody Hayes always had to select the team movie the night before each game. Read how Jim Tressel made the Buckeyes a family first and a football team second once he became the Ohio State head coach.
Hear the locker room conversations, experience the rigors of summer camp and the Rose Bowl trips, and relive the biggest games and most satisfying wins over "The School Up North."
From Friday night poker games to dormitory food fights involving Woody Hayes himself, Buckeyes have experienced it all--on and off the field.
"Then Tress Said to Troy..." takes you inside Ohio State football, allowing you to enjoy the ride toward 787 victories and numerous Big Ten and national championships as if you were in the huddle. This book is a testament to the Buckeyes family, pride, tradition, and history. It's all here, from the 1890s to the eras of Francis Schmidt, to Woody Hayes, to Earle Bruce, to Jim Tressel. Enjoy these stories from those who played and coached for the Scarlet and Gray.
Then Tress Said to Troy includes an exclusive CD that contains rare audio play-by-play of the infamous November 24, 1973, game against Michigan. This was the greatest and most controversial Ohio Sate-Michigan game in their long and storied rivalry. Both teams came into the game undefeated, and the game ended in a 10-10 tie, but by a vote of the league coaches, Ohio Sate went to the Rose Bowl.

This is great book for a young man or hardcore fan. Easy to read because there are so many short passages in the form of letters or wisdom from the players who left Ohio State University many years before. Their memories with the passing of time - Timeless!
If you are on the go and can only read short passages, plenty of places to bookmark and pick up again later!!!
