But don’t be fooled. This seat is far, far more than a fashion accessory for image-conscious parents.

The bouncy seat is one of the most important and useful pieces of baby gear most families will have in their homes. It would be lovely if we could all sit around with our babes in arms all day, every day; alas, dishes, laundry, dinner, and older children call. Bouncy seats allow the youngest members of the family to enjoy the chaos swirling around them from the comfort and peace of their own personal recliner. And in a pleasantly pared-down departure from the jingly-jangly, swishy-splashy seats that confront parents shopping for a basic bouncy seat, the only bell or whistle on the Baby Sitter 1-2-3 is a toy bar with three solid wood teddy bear shapes. This bouncy seat simply, well, bounces. The slightest movement causes a relaxing bounce--no on/off buttons or six degrees of vibration, just baby’s natural wiggling. The attractive black fabric of the seat cover is reversible, from flat black to flat black with a diagonal pattern of a million faint gray "Baby Bjorn"s. Either way, the look is subtle, sophisticated, and unforgiving of yogurt or rice cereal stains…Luckily, it’s easily machine washable (drip dry). Come to think of it, in this day and age, any piece of baby gear that is not machine washable needs to go straight to the museum of ancient artifacts, for crying out loud. The restraint system buttons (yes, buttons!) securely at three points, and is removable to wash, reverse patterns, or keep off entirely once baby is able to walk or to climb in and out of the seat herself.

That’s right, you read that correctly! No need to scold your toddler for trying to get into baby’s seat; this bouncy seat is suitable for 8-pound newborns as well as kids up to 24 months (or a maximum of 29 pounds). Just be sure to remove and stow that restraint system. Another good safety feature is the non-skid base, as well as the reminder never to place the inhabited seat on a table or other elevated surfaces.

Unlike the two- or three-month life spans of so many toys and equipment for children, this is one baby item that will truly grow with your little angel, up to two years! Even if it costs a bit more than some, make sure you’re measuring that price against the number of months of use; most bouncy seats are workable up until around seven months or so, in spite of the actual age/weight range listed. Sturdy, entertaining and very light!
I have gone through two bouncy seats among my three small boys. When I saw this one, I thought it seemed expensive but rationalized that it could be used as the baby gets older. From the first minute my baby sat in it, he loved it. He is upright and likes to play with the little wooden bears. I found that the other bouncy seats (Fisher Price) quickly bent back and my son was more flat than upright. This is a high quality product that is extremely light weight. Can carry it easiy while my son is in my arms. Definely worth the price!!

Simple high quality design, worth the extra $$
This seat is a bit more expensive than most other bouncer seats but it's well worth it. The beauty of its seat is definitely its simplicity. I was looking for an alternative to all of the super bright colors, vibrating, dancing, slicing and dicing bouncers.

The pros:
- Firm, stable base and hardware unlike lots of bouncers with plastic pieces that seem a little flimsy.
- This seat reacts to even small movements of the baby so even the youngest can bounce!
- Due to the base, the bounce is even and not shaky or erratic at all.
- The seat can be used much longer than most bouncer seats.
- The seat can be adjusted to three different heights.

The cons:
- It is a little more expensive than Fisher Price and other bouncers, but again it's worth it!
- Adjusting the seat requires you to take the baby out because of the way the base snaps. There have been times when the baby's fallen asleep in it and I wanted to recline without possibility waking him.

Baby Bjorn does it again!
I initially bought this seat when we brought our adopted daughter home from China. She was very weak and could not hold herself up. This sitter was just what she needed!! She learned muscle control and taught herself how to rock in this seat and was quickly sitting up on her own. She loved it!! When our newest daughter was born, I brought out the Bjorn and we used it from when she was a newborn and is still using it at 5 months old. She loves to sit in it, very comfortable, and she also LOVES the toy bar. It's a great investment and it wears very well (after all of this use, it still looks brand new).
