Amazon.com Product Description
A great choice for complementing professional couture, the Bulova Marine Star gold-tone stainless steel men's watch is also suitable for recreational scuba diving, thanks to its 200-meter (660-foot) water resistant rating. It features a brightly polished golden watch case that's topped by a black-plated unidirectional rotating bezel with elapsed time markings in gold and coin-edged detailing for a sure grip when under water. The busy black dial includes three golden chronograph subdials (chrono hour, minutes, and seconds) as well as gold-outlined skeleton hands (with luminous tips), large luminous hour markers, small minute indexes, a date window at 3 o'clock, and a tachymeter around the outside edge of the dial (which can be used to measure time over distance). It's completed by a smoothly supple black leather strap with white contrast stitching.
How to Use the Elapsed Time Bezel
If your watch is equipped with a rotating outer dial with one-minute graduations, this can be used in various ways to check elapsed time. For example if you're diving and have a 30-minute air supply, you can set the outer ring so that the bezel's starting point is in line with the minute hand when you first submerge. The minute hand will then indicate on the outer ring the length of time that you've been under water and when you should safely begin to resurface.
About Bulova
In 1875, a young Czech immigrant named Joseph Bulova set up shop in New York City, and a legendary American watch brand was born. Bulova was trained as a jeweler, and his expertise carried over into his watchmaking career, which began around 1911 with boudoir clocks and pocket watches, and soon evolved to include what was then one of the latest and most fashionable technological innovations: the wristwatch.
Bulova introduced its first line of wristwatches in 1919. The company grew and prospered, and soon early radio and television ads were declaring, "America runs on Bulova time." In the 1950s, continuing its legacy of innovation, Bulova introduced Accutron, the first electronic watch, and the first breakthrough in timekeeping technology in over 300 years. The Accutron timing mechanism was later adapted for use by NASA computers and a Bulova timer was even placed on the moon to control transmissions of data. Bulova timepieces have kept official time aboard Air Force One and have also served as official timepieces for U.S. Olympic teams.
Today, Bulova maintains its tradition of excellence in technology and design, offering a diverse collection of beautiful precision timepieces for every occasion.
Customer Reviews
You will not be disappointed
While this watch is not a Tag or an Omega, since I started wearing it in December, I've received tons of compliments on its respectable appearance unlike my buddy who dropped 2k on a much more expensive watch. The hands and dial glow in the dark which makes it easy to read in low light (unless the face has been covered by your sleeve). Chronograph and Tachymeter work well, watch is built solidly and I have absolutely no regrets about this purchase.
Bulova Marine Star Shines
I am very pleased with my new Bulova Marine Star chronograph. It is a beautiful and detailed watch and, as always, Amazon Prime delivered as promised and on time. Top quality watch and top quality company.
Nice Looking Fake Gold Watch
This is a great looking watch and seems to be very reliable. It's large and heavy and looks pretty classy. I wasn't thrilled with the strap, however. Felt really stiff and a little cheap. Plus I thought the white stitching was a little busy on an already flashy piece. I replaced it with a high quality croc glossy strap and think it looks much better. Hopefully the "gold" finish holds up in the long run.
