Consider this a collectors item4
A lot of people might be wondering what this is all about. Mikazuki is a popular children's TV show that is aired in Japan (I've never seen it before. That is what I was told.). This project is basically a "soundtrack" (if you will) for the show. It comes in a clear plastic box. Inside are two boxes and a slim line case that holds the CD (the cd is in the back). The image that you see on Amazon.com is actually two boxes. The box with the orange boarder around it contains a toy. The tall black box to the left is empty (used as filler). As for the music, I was told that it was not that good. I disagree. The first track "Crescent Moon" is the standout track. Don Dokken on vocals, Paul Gilbert and Hatake (popular Japanese guitarist) on guitar, Tony Franklin on base. Don sounds great on that track. Paul's guitar has a bit of his "Superheroes" sound from Racer X. Other guest appearances on the cd include Doug Aldrich (he plays a couple of instrumentals, one being 18+ minutes long. It changes a lot of tempos. I like it.). Richie Kotzen also plays lead guitar on a few tracks (no vocals). Devin Townsend sings on one track called "Doom". Very heavy, industrial metal. I like that track as well. It's got 11 tracks on it. There mostly instrumentals with the exception of 3 tracks (One with Don, one with Devin, and the last track sung by Fumina Hara, Japanese vocalist). I feel that the instrumentals are played out well. It's got one side of linear notes in the CD case (no lyrics, only credits for each song). For someone who collects Japanese hard rock/metal imports you might consider adding this to your collection. It's not cheap (even if you buy it from other vendors aside from Amazon). The quality of the picture sleeve on the CD could of been better but to me it's the music that matters most. This is one of those items that will be available for a few months, after that it will become a collectors item and therefore hard to impossible to get. One thing I can't understand is that the TV show as well as the toy that comes with this package is geared for children. I can't say the same for the music on this "soundtrack". I don't think an 8 to 13 year old is going to enjoy the music. That's ok though. I do.
