Album Description
The Formation of Damnation is the 2008 release-- the first Testament studio album of all new material in nine years. This is the first Testament album to feature Alex Skolnick on guitar since 1992's The Ritual, also the first to feature bassist Greg Christian since 1994's Low. Testament are an US thrash metal band from California. Some of their records entered the charts in major markets such as the UK and Germany. Testament has two Top 40 albums and one Top 50 album to its credit in the UK. Their 1999 album The Gathering also entered the Top 50 in Germany. They had minor top 100 album success in the United States.

Damnation is upon you
From the beginning to the end this album just rocks. After hearing Low, The Gathering and now Formation of Damnation, this is the New Testament that we have waited for. Keeping to the true style of the Bay Area Thrash this band has only progressed themselves to a higher level. From Thrash albums (NWO, PWYP) the ritual is a good listen but kinda lost me through the sound of trying to sound radio friendly. Then came Return to the Apocalyptic City, a refreshing live mini album that made me wait in suspense for Low. Demondogs! They did what alot of other bands from their era tried to do, keep it heavy at a level that would please the fans. Above and beyond the call, Testament have made a new refreshing start with TFOD, hopefully we don't have to wait 9 years for the follow up. Play on Legion of the Dead!!
The Formation of Damnation - Testament
This is a an excellent example of a "true" thrash album that reminds me of their earlier releases such as New World Order, Pratice What You Preach and Souls of Black. I loved these releases back in the eighties and nineties due to Alex Skolnick's guitar work. Well, the band is back and at its zenith with an aggressive and non-stop drum pounding release. any long time fan will appreciate this album especially now tat Alex Skolnick is back and at his best.
GREAT!!
I usually dont bother with reviews but holy crap! this is metal at it best. I can only say these guys could hang with Pantera easily. That is saying alot. This will be my favorite album of 2008.It is great to know there are still musicans left in this bullcrap world of Rap and Pop.
Thanks Guys!! Talent like this is rare these days.
