Whitesnake came roaring back in 2003 and we're lucky to have this live document of the greatest frontman ever, David Coverdale, doing what he does best. And what a crackerjack band: guitarists Doug Aldrich and Reb Beach, drummer Tommy Aldridge, bassist Marco Mendoza: a virtual supergroup. Well-shot, sounds great, excellent collection of songs.

This is what all of us KISS fans have waited for: an exhaustive collection of live performances from 1974 to 1977, at the height of their makeup "Golden Age." Paul, Ace, Gene, and Peter created a chemistry that will never be equalled by any other band. Modelled a bit after the Led Zeppelin DVD in terms of pacing and packaging.

The Mark 3 lineup of Deep Purple obliterate the stage at the California Jam on April 6, 1974. While the picture often looks blurry (colors bleed into each other, unlike some boots I've seen!) this is worth it because it's the complete set, with some interesting bonus features.

Few artists have gone through as many dramatic changes as David Bowie. Even if you hated one of his albums or periods, something else was always around the corner. Here we get to see him change from 1972 to 1999.

In 2005 the original Crue got back together and played a tour based around their heavier material. Consequently, this DVD really rocks, and the camera cuts away every four seconds to show the HOT girls in the audience. Mick Mars rules!

A great collection of early 70s clips done by bands like Deep Purple, Santana, Alice Cooper, Nazareth, Free, and the James Gang when they appeared on Radio Bremen's Musikladen TV show (from which MTV's Closet Classics drew much of its material in the mid 80s). This era of music will always be my favorite.

A superbly filmed document of THE tour of 2007, when the Dio-era lineup of Black Sabbath put aside their differences and played an eclectic set culled from all three of their albums as well as two new tracks. Iommi has rarely played better solos, and Dio sounds the best he's sounded in the better part of a decade.

I somehow missed this when it came out a few years ago, but you'd better believe I've been playing catch-up. Great vintage concert footage and an exhaustive documentary. I laughed when Steve Harris told the story of firing the guitar player who couldn't make up his mind about being in the band, so Steve made up his mind for him. "I mean, how do you deal with someone like that?"

Two complete King Crimson shows from the 1980s lineup: the short 1982 performance (where they opened for Roxy Music and Robert Fripp wore a tuxedo) and then a headlining show from Japan in 1984, where Adrian Belew wears "MC Hammer" pants and Fripp wears a Miami Vice-style jacket. The guitar solos by these men are just stunning, even though the overall production is pretty bare bones.

It was a real treat a few years ago when Purple released this gem from 1969. The whole Concerto is presented here (but sadly no band-only numbers), and the commentary from Jon Lord himself adds a lot.

How great it is to finally have one of the best metal concert videos of the 80s on DVD. I used to watch this on Beta, for gosh sakes. And of course, the "Story of" Documentary continues. The blue and gold cover is one of the most beautiful in my collection! Can't wait for Volume 3.

How can I not include Woodstock? So many careers were made (or at least immortalized) here: Ten Years After, Jimi Hendrix, the Who, Canned Heat, Santana, Crosby Stills & Nash, Sha Na Na, Richie Havens, etc.

Whitesnake Unplugged, with just David Coverdale backed by Adrian Vandenburg on guitar. A great DVD to pop in at the end of a long, hard day and just "chill" to.

This is a fascinating look at the creation of Def Leppard's 1987 pop-metal masterpiece, still considered one of the most fully realized studio albums ever. A mini-course in songwriting and production.

I would have ranked this MUCH higher, as Ronnie and his band play the complete Holy Diver album live, plus some great obscure Rainbow tracks like "Tarot Woman" and "Gates of Babylon," but unfortunately he had a bad cold that night and his voice was relatively shot.
