Great improvement5
Great case. Provides an almost unlimited number of alternative ways to hold the Kindle while reading. The biggest problem with the stock case was that there were only a few ways to hold it, and my hands would grow tired after any length of time. This case has so many possibilities it is actually more comfortable to hold than a book. The cover is wider than the Kindle by enough that you can hold it by the side margins, or hold by the top cover, which when fipped over to the back provides a good hand grab. If you think about it enough I think you will agree that this form factor is really the only approach that solve the "Kindle is hard to hold for a long time" issue.

Build quality seems good, but I've only had it a few days, so time will have to tell.

Holds the Kindle very securely, and should do a good job of protecting it.

Doesn't hurt that the price is right either.

I really can't think of a way to make this product better - hence the 5 stars.

Like better than the one that comes with it, but...4
OK, it's better than the one they ship it with, and it does fold over backwards well when you're reading. But the strap with the snap on it that secures the cover closed doesn't have any place to stow it when it's open. It snaps into the back of the cover fine if you're using it as a stand, as showin in the picture, but if you just want it folded flat to hold while you read, there's no good way to keep that strap out of the way. Also, as another reviewer noted, this DOES leave some marks on the kindle. My marks rubbed off fine just with my dry thumb, but still shouldn't happen.

The inside of the cover is padded where it hits the screen, and it is held quite securely with the three grips, i don't worry about it coming out.

So better than the original, but still not ideal.

Difficult to Figure Out How to Use, Otherwise Great4
Case hold Kindle securely and easel is nice to read from when reading at work. Thought my case was defective until I read on a post by Hairballz on how to load the Kindle into the case (see below). Some of the sewing is a little crude (edges don't line up perfectly) and the edges around the cut out for the switches looks crudely melted, but other than that it works well. Glad I finally found out how to use it and didn't have to send it back! Thanks Hairballz!

"Here's the CORRECT way to use this cover. I tried it last night several times, removing and replacing it, when used this way it's NO PROBLEM at all. You simply start from the top instead of the bottom. Holding the Kindle, insert the BOTTOM of the Kindle into the two side clips - slide the Kindle into those two bottom clips and then slide it just a bit further so the top of your Kindle clears the top clip. Once it's cleared the top clip and is laying flat, just slide it back up a bit so it pops into the top clip. That's IT - it's that simple."
