Freezing food with simplicity
After reading so many of the meal freezing books this book was refreshing. The author didn't waste a large part of the book with how to information. (To be honest we know how to write a grocery list, how to shop and how to cook.) The author gave a few food safety tips at the beginning but the book does not insult your intelligence by telling you how to plan your day when you are cooking or how to set up your kitchen to make these meals. The recipes are the gem of the book with only a note at the bottom of each recipe that tells how long it can be kept in your freezer.

The recipes are basic enough that most families will find foods they like and also offers a few surpises like Winter Squash w/Honey, Cranberries & Walnuts or a recipe for Gazpacho.

This is not a book that tells you to go out and purchase all kinds of ingredients for multiple meals, fill your kitchen counter with them & cook all day. It also doesn't tell you to go buy a loaf of french bread, smear it with tomato sauce and cheese & put it in your freezer for an easy supper one night. It simply presents basic recipes that are easy to prepare and that freeze well. I believe the easiest way to use this book would be to prepare one recipe for a meal but multiiply it and put the extra ones in the freezer. By doing this each time you would be able to stockpile a variety of meals over a short period of time.

I actually was looking for a second copy of a book I had already purchased. One a friend had raved about & I had relinquished willingly - and then found there were no more editions at our local book store. Enter Amazon - no problem at all. If you like to cook large quantities for your family and divide them up to have later, this is the book for you. Wonderful recipes - easy to find ingredients - and each tells you how long the item can be kept in your freezer. From soups to desserts - this is one volume you really should place in your library.

Simple & Practical Recipes
I ordered this hoping it would have some good recipes that I could prepare and freeze ahead of time. It is exactly what I wanted. This book has easy, practical recipes for freezing, with a simple format and easy to find directions for preparing to serve after freezing. I have several freezer cooking or OAMC cookbooks and was looking for some more practical recipes, especially casseroles, that I could get ready and into my freezer for my upcoming surgery. I do this a lot for friends when they have surgeries or babies and need a break from standing in the kitchen! So many other cookbooks try to get fancy with new and different recipes, and this one gave me just some yummy recipes that I can easily prepare for the freezer. So refreshing and unique. Thank you!!
